'So I went back to three days before the Dungeon Break. What should I do? I mean, humanity was wiped out after 1 year... I should get supplies, lots of them. Enough to last a couple of years...'
Alex stopped in his tracks.
'What if... I cleared the Dungeon Gate? That would save everyone... No. No! It's too dangerous. I've died twice, I don't want to...'
But he absolutely had to ask a question.
It was vital to the future he would live.
The future HE would give birth to.
"Can I regress as many times as I want?" Alex asked while looking at the ground.
[You can use your Skill Sacrificial Regression for as long as you possess the Skill.]
"You mean that if I died right now... I would come back?"
[Only by sacrificing this life, shall you have another.]
"Is it guaranteed? A 100%?"
[You have offered your life once with no guarantee whatsoever.]
[Your sacrifice has impressed the Deities, especially a certain Deity.]
"Is that so?" Alex asked as he walked towards his window.
He climbed it and lowered his gaze towards the floor that was 6 floors away.
"So if I jump and die... I'll go back to the past?"
[Your Skill shall activate.]
[You shall regress.]
A nervous smile appeared on Alex's face as the wind blew on his hair and his feet shook.
The hairs on his body stood on end as he stretched his arms and titled his body forward.
The next second, Alex started free falling.
A couple of seconds later, his body hit the concrete.
But, those seconds were the most liberating he had ever lived.
Alex felt extremely free as he fell.
Just before he hit the ground, he came to a conclusion.
'Nothing really matters, does it?'
His body hit the ground.
Bones broke and muscles were teared.
After a sharp pain, he opened his eyes in a dark rook once more.
Alex felt goosebumps as he looked at the clock that was going backwards.
'Nothing really matters. If I fail, I can start again. If the world turns to shit, I can go back. I am free, truly free.'
With a big smile on his face, Alex looked at the young man in the pool lounge.
"You better go workout if you want to survive." He told the young man.
"The f..."
Alex didn't even hear the young man's answer as he was already outside.
He went how and started planning.
'Those days inside that hole were awful. Truly awful. I was miserable, hungry and alone. But there are three things I got from that experience. One, I can raise my Stats by training. Two, Skills can be developed just like Poison Resistance. Three, I know what I did wrong. What I should have done differently.' Alex thought as he took a piece of paper and sat on his table.
He looked for a pen but did not find one.
'Guess I'll go buy one...'
The next second, his stomach growled loudly and a big smile appeared on his face.
Without even realizing, Alex had gone back to that store.
As he entered, a wave of memories came back.
"What's up Alex?" The russian worked Ivan asked.
The memories coupled with the sight of Ivan brought tears to Alex's face.
"What ? Did your girl break up with you? It happens. My wife divorce me because I drink too much. Hahaha!" Ivan said with a big smile.
Alex wiped his tears while chuckling lightly before answering,
"She asked for a divorce because you got fat, didn't she?"
"Ty, kusok der'ma! And I was...Um... trying to cheer you u-... Good morning!" Ivan shouted before changing his demeanor once another customer entered.
Alex grabbed a pen and food. Lots of food.
'Ivan... I'll definitely save you. But for now...'
Alex paid for everything and was about to leave.
"No cigarettes this time?" Ivan asked.
"No, not anymore."
"That's good." Ivan said with a smile.
Once Alex got home, he spent about an hour cooking.
After that, he sat at his dinner table.
Three plates of pasta, one huge pizza, two plates of rice and chicken, three tubes of ice cream and a big bottle of soda.
After he devoured everything he could, Alex put all the utensils inside his trash bin.
'Who has time to clean when the world is ending?'
After lying on his bed for about 1 hour, Alex sat back down at the table with pieces of paper and pens.
He started writing all the information he had.
'First of all, Dungeon Break in about three days. Therefore, the Dungeon Gates will appear in 2 days. By clearing those Dungeon Gates, I would be able to buy some time. But that's not enough. I also need to get the word out. But I don't even know where the Dungeon gates are. Not only that, but humanity will go extinct in a year. Even if I can save the whole country, what about the rest of the world? I can't go everywhere. I need people on my side... Wait, do the Dungeon Gates even appear at the same time everywhere? I need information. Information about the future... Shit..'
Alex shook his head.
'For now, there are two things I need. Stats and money. With money, I'll be able to have whatever I want during these three days to prepare. With Stats, I'll be able to clear the gates before society collapses. Can I even clear a Dungeon Gate alone? If a monster kills me, then I'm done. I only get another chance if I'm the one who...'
He closed his eyes and breathed deeply.
'I need time. I need to gain enough time for humanity. So that our whole society changes. I'll just do what I can for now.'
Alex constructed himself a workout plan to raise his Stats to the max.
He checked a nearby gym's website and bought a one week subscription.
Alex felt goosebumps.
'It's a 24-hour gym. I'll be able to raise my Stat efficiently. Oh, also...'
He downloaded a three very famous social media apps.
'With this, I'll be able to keep up with what people see or find. It would be pretty cool if people could find the Dungeon Gates for me. Otherwise, I'll have to look for them all before regressing.'
After that, Alex ran to the gym and started working out right away.
He lifted weights, worked on his endurance by running on a treadmill and even followed two yoga classes to raise his Agility Stat..
Alex had trained for about 6 hours.
How?
Thanks to the System.
His depleted Endurance Points came back after resting for a couple of minutes.
'Let's go home and eat. I need to look for something...'
