Hester paused and looked up. "Bette, if I want to cover for you, I would not come to interrogate you today. I would not aggravate or extenuate your guilt just because you are Bette. I know you are a smart person, and I can tell you very clearly that I will take over your case. No matter what you say, I will do it. I don't care about your words."
"Hester, you are my sister. No one will believe you won't cover for me. Why don't you hand over the case to someone else? Oceanfront City has tons of policemen. And this is the West District Precinct. It has nothing to do with you."
After listening to this sentence, Hester put on a cold smile. "The Carter family has not declined yet. How can I be assured that others will not be bribed by the Carter family?"
Bette narrowed her eyes. "It turns out that the police in Oceanfront City are so easy to bribe. Officer Hester, you seem to have no confidence in the police."
