Once he had sent Dr. Baker away, Julius then went back up to Eve's room.

Seeing that she was already awake, he called her softly, "How are you feeling?"

Eve turned away, as tears continued to stream down her cheeks. "Dad, I'm so sorry… It's all my fault… If I die, everything will be over…"

Julius sighed as he stood next to her bed, saying, "Is it worth it just for Clarence Oak? Is he worth your life?"

There were so many good men out there. Why must she marry into the Oak family?

Even bit her lips with a pale face and said, "Dad, I really like him. I sincerely love him. Clarence feels the same way as well. I can't beg you to let us be together, you…"
