~A few minutes earlier~

"How is the operation faring", a brain said as he addressed the two in front of him, which were Ag'im and sa'un

"Things are going to plan, my lord, the humans haven't become alert to our plan", Ag'im hastily replied

"Good, and what about 'that', asked the brain

"It shall be fully operational in two minutes, my lord" sa'un spoke up this time

"Good, are all preparations ready? asked the brain

"Yes, my lord" replied Ag'im

"Begin the process as soon as everything is set, the humans should not know what hit them" said the brain

"And so shall it be, my lord, I take my leave to ensure the smoothness of the process", Ag'im and sa'un immediately left the chambers as they headed to main cargo where tens of people who looked exactly like them.

"How long till the activation is complete" Ag'im asks the replacement of Dha'im in front of the control center

Instead of replying directly, he just started counting; " 10..9..8..7..6..5..4..3..2..1, activation successful.

"Have you put in the proper coordinates?" Ag'im asked again

"Yes" was the one word the other alien replied

"Good, now Fire!" Ag'im commanded as switches been flicked as ship began to shake and clicking sounds could be heard on mothership.

The cargo floor opened up to reveal a massive futuristic looking cannon covered in a white with blue line running through it at its mouth locked in on earth then it began to charge up with the blue lines becoming noticeably brighter and then;

DOOOOM!!!

Like a comet coming down, a blue laser suddenly broke through the stratosphere as it immensely vanquished a large number of both humans and aliens as an entire country was wiped from the face of earth but the laser just kept digging into the earth.

At this moment the voice of planetary core was speaking with urgency to Zephyr who was still fending off monsters.

[Human, you need to stop the advancement of laser at all costs]

"How the hell am I supposed to do that?"

[I don't know, but if don't do something soon, this world shall be destroyed]

"Shit!" Zephyr said as thought of any variable plans while still dodging attacks, but none of them seemed plausible.

'What do I do? he thought as he worked his mind to the limit desperately trying to find an answer.

As he killed another monster, he stood straight and looked at the laser still tearing the ground as he looked book at his own dark blue body, before gritting his teeth as he gave an order to the planetary core;

"Teleport me into the laser"

[That won't be possible]

"What! how am I supposed to get there?"

Zephyr shouted at the outrageousness of his current situation, although could now fly since he killed a flying monster, it would still take him ages to reach the laser beam

[Have you already forgotten what I told you about gates]

At this question, zephyr began to ponder about the former discussions he had with the planetary core;

"Ohh" he said as quickly remembered what it was actually saying, it was the same reason why he couldn't be teleported right in front of a gate to immediately close it.

It wasn't actually teleporting zephyr, no, rather it was using a large amount of Nova essence to open up a gap in space, but two gaps or gates had to have a specific amount of distance in between them, which was why the planetary core opened it up in the sky, to allow zephyr to approach the monsters unnoticed, so what the planetary core could not open a gap directly into the laser.

'So that what it meant' zephyr thought as gave the core an order;

"Take me to the nearest location"

[Brace yourself] it said as nova essence began to coalesce on zephyr's body and then;

He vanished

I found myself in my middle of a city with half of the buildings razed to ground and body parts strewn all over place.

As I look up, the blue laser beam enters my line of sight with its size bigger than I imagined.

[Hurry]

As I head the urgency in the core's voice, i changed into the form of an ambient eagle and took to the skies.

Moving at the speed of sound, the distance between the beam and I shortens as a fast rate, that's when I began to feel heat, which surprised me to say the least, because I was still covered in my dark-blue skin.

As I was in the air, I got a view of the country but it wasn't pretty, the heat emanating from the laser had caused both hunters and humans to melt along with everything else.

The closer I got to it, the more destruction I saw and the angrier I became at those responsible, but what could I do? I could focused my gaze on the laser and fly even faster with hope that my plan would work, and sure enough;

ZOOM!

I flew right into the middle of the laser beam.

AHH!!!

I screamed out as I felt my body being torn apart.

After studying my power in the last few days, I found out that it was always hungry for energy, which was why it destabilised organic matter such as monsters or the alien spaceships as it sucked the energy from it.

With that train of thought, I thought I could suck in its energy.

Well, I wasn't wrong but I had underestimated the how much energy it would take to penetrate a planet.

It was like a building washed away by a tsunami, my body was absorbing it crazily but it couldn't absorbing it all, especially so when it was condensed.

So the remaining energy my body couldn't absorb was ripping it apart, I threw myself out of the beam so as not to get incinerated.

This wouldn't work so i had think of something else, and fast.

"Of course" I said as I quickly figured out something else.

"Where is the beam coming from?" I asked the one being who could know.

[Give me a moment to find out] the planetary core quickly replied.

A moment later a reply came;

[It's on the moon]

"Why didn't you tell me that before? I said as I felt annoyed with the planetary core missing such important information.

[It wasn't there before, or maybe I couldn't sense it, they must have done something to keep them concealed]

"Do you think you can send me there?"

[Hmm....are you sure you can stop them]

"Do you have a better idea?"

[....Indeed I don't, but as I teleport you, you will have only one minute to destroy it, are you sure you can do that]

"No I'm not, but it's the only chance we have"

[Human, humanity's survival hangs on your shoulders]

"I know"

[Very well, brace yourself]

Nova essence in a amount incomparable to before began to coalesce around zephyr as it opened a gap to the moon and then;

He was gone

The outcome of this war now hangs on performance of one being.

How this all ends?

No one is certain, with both sides at their wits end, it's anybody's win at this point.

We can only wait to find out.
