Introducing everyone to everyone is a rather easy task, considering the fact that most of Reeve’s tribe isn’t here. Baxter is the boisterous dog who sent him flying into a brick wall, Ruby is the bolder of two ginger queens and Sapphire is the quieter.
He already knows me and introducing him as a friendly fox who isn’t always great at hunting earns me a cheeky grin from him.
“Sophia?” Ruby asks, eyeing me intently.
“Safe,” I assure her, stretching and wincing at the pain running down my side. It must be my entire flank, punctured by that queen’s claws. “Reeve’s tribe lives in a forest.”
“And your tribe is?”
She turns to the fox expectantly. Remembering her previous prejudices against dogs, I wonder how she feels about foxes. Right now, she’s just applying a level of caution which I think she would have with any stranger.
“Dogs,” he laughs, “just like yours. Baxter, was it?”
