Staring up at Jason, Eires certainly wasn’t expecting him to say that when only mere minutes ago he was literally about to rock her world. She supposed sometime during his meeting with her father, Jason must have been informed about the time she was kidnapped. Strangely enough she couldn’t remember much from that incident. One minute she was running around with the other pack kids and the next she was waking up in the pack’s infirmary staring up at her parents worried face. If it wasn’t for the doctor telling her father that it was a miracle that she didn’t bleed out from the silver bullet wound, Eires wouldn’t have known she had been shot.
“I’m sorry it must have been a traumatizing experience. What was I even thinking, asking did it hurt? I’ve never been shot but I’m pretty it would hurt pretty bad.” Jason said.
“Don’t be, I consider myself lucky that I can’t remember much from that time. But thank you for being so considerate.” Eires replied gently.
Now that they were having a short downtime, Eires should at least try to steer the conservation back to the two she-wolves currently waiting for them to have their word in private.
“Speaking of consideration, Jason I would greatly appreciate it if you showed the same amount of consideration towards Maya and Amber.” Erires cotinued gently.
“I am showing them the same amount of consideration I would with anyone else who holds their future Luna down with a blade. Let them go to trial.” Jason replied nonchalantly.
“I know you think that is fair Jason but judging from Maya’s brother’s reaction I’m thinking that might no be the best thing for either one of them. It’s only been a few hours since I got here and I don’t want people to think that their future Luna enjoys causing trouble and throwing beloved members of the pack into jail.” Eires argued back.
First Jason’s own sister had told Eires to watch her back, now there were two wolves who might be exiled or worse because of her. If she was going to lead these people along side Jason one day as his Luna, she wanted them to follow her out of love and not out of fear that any misstep will cause them to lose their lives. She wasn't about to move from one pack where she was an outcast just to join another to also be an outcast that was also feared by everyone around her. If she wanted to live as an outcast, she would have proceeded with her plan to move to college where the wolf population in the area was close to zero.
Seeing Jason's jaw clench and his eyes settle into a stubborn gaze, Eires knew she had to give up the notion of convincing Jason to let these she-wolves walk away without some form of punishment.
“I see you aren’t going to budge on this so how about a compromise, I get to decide their punishment and they won’t have to go through a public trial?” Eires suggested.
“I suppose that sounds fair. In any case I really have to get going. I’m sorry but for the past half an hour my dad has been in my head asking me for updates and urging me to return to the council meeting.” Jason said apologetically. “But this.. “ Jason said before he passionately kissed “I look forward to continuing later.”
Feeling her cheeks heat up, Eires let a shy grin spread across her face. “No complaints here my future Alpha.” Pulling on their shirts that they previously discarded on the floor, Jason then laced his fingers in hers as he lead both of them down to the second floor and towards the third door from the end of the hallway. Stopping in front of the large double panelled wooden door, Eires suddenly felt nervous. This was going to be her first unofficial act as the future Luna and she hoped to Goddess that she made the correct decision.
Upon entering, Eires saw that everyone of them had varying levels of worried looks with Amber being on the brink of tears. They strode in the room and Jason announced that he and the elite members are required back in the council meeting and that Eires will be deciding what happens to her attackers without going to trial. They all had varying reactions to Jason annoucement, looking at the elite members who looked worried a second ago, Eires realised that they had all schooled their features to form a bored neutral expression. If there were surprised by Jason's decision they certainly didn't show it. The only one whom Eires could say showed a hint of dissatisfaction in his eyes was Maya's brother.
Amber let out a whimpering cry whilst Eires observed that Maya had a look of defiance almost daring her to do her worst. Turning to look at Jason, Eires squeezed his hand in hers and tried to mind link him her assurances that she has everything handled here. 'I will handle this I promise, just go before your dad sends someone else to check on the situation.'
Giving her a nod and a peck on her forehead, Jason turned to leave the room with the other elite members turning to follow him without a backward glance. As soon as the door closed, Eires turned to look at the two girl before here. Maya continued to stare at her with her arms crossed whilst Amber tried to keep her tears at bay.
" Go ahead and announce that you want us to start packing right now. We're not afraid aren't we Amber?" Maya said full of bravado breaking the silence.
"She.... she doesn't mean that future Luna .. please don't throw us out. I grew up in this pack, I don't know anything outside this pack and we haven't even turned 18 yet." Amber said in a shaky pleading voice.
"How about we reintroduce ourselves but this time without the knife and maybe we can start over? I'll start. Hi, my name is Eires, you don't have to call me your future luna I don't do think that is even a title and I'm sure you're not going to believe this but I am not some spy sent here to conduct a mission and leave quickly." Eires said lightheartedly trying to mask her nervousness.
Staring at her like she grew two heads, Maya and Amber simply blinked at her. "I'm sorry what....?" Amber said not believing what Eires just said.
