The rest of the days of the week went by quickly, I was able to get the hang of what my job entails and Sandra proved to be quite helpful, she assisted me in ways I didn't believe she would. We even became friends,
Today is Saturday, I am so happy it is the weekend. I plan to rest and put my thoughts together. I also gave myself a task not to think of Adam and it was actually working until Kylie came and ruined everything.. All she talks about since she entered my room is Adam, making it hard to forget him.
"Babe, is everything okay with you?.."
"Oh no, there she goes again" I said to myself, rolling my eyes.
" ..I can't believe you couldn't do a simple task, just one picture Cathy, one!" She screamed, looking at me in disbelief as she rolled her eyes
Laughing I covered my mouth, trying to suppress my laughter. "You are unbelievable Kylie, can't believe you are freaking out over a common picture"
She looked at me, frowning "really? That is all you have to say. If it was that simple, why were you unable to take a picture of him huh?"
"It is not as easy as it seems. I tried Kylie, but the perfect opportunity didn't just pop up. But I am happy you're here, I have missed you so much" I said, trying to change the topic. I also shed few tears to make it believable
"Hey are you crying or what, you better wipe those tears off before I spank you" she joked.
So happy my tactic worked, I hugged her as we both laughed, staying in the same position for a few minutes before finally freeing her from my warm embrace.
I used this opportunity to take a look at her, she looks so good I just have to tell her;
"You look good girl" I said to her as I stood farther apart to get a clearer picture of her.
I love the long peach maxi skirt she wore, it stopped on her ankle. She rocked it with a white tank top, it gave her a baby girl feel.
"Wow, your trip to Australia is nice for you. I love what I see" I said as I pulled her off my bed to my pink and white sofa in my room.
We sat there chatting, talking about our various experiences so far. She told me about the guy she met in Australia, from her explanation he seems to be a nice guy.
I am so happy for her, she hasn't been lucky in love just like me. It's either the guy is cheating, has a wife, scorn bag or just plain stupid. But this time around I think she has found the man deserving of her although I can't be so sure... yet.
So I need to do my duty and give her some advice hoping she heeds it because, Kylie can be stourborn most especially when it comes to love she suddenly goes deaf
"Not literally though," I said Chuckling. I mean, she just ignores everything she is told.
She looked at me weirdly and asked "What is so funny?"
"Nothing, I was just thinking.."
"Spill it" she said
"It is just an advice that is all"
"Say it anyways" she insisted
"Alright, I just want to tell you not to rush things with this guy, I know he is good and all but, I want you to take it slow. Don't rush into anything or do things you don't want to, okay?"
"Yes, sure. Thank you" she said giving me a tight hug
"I will love to see him, the man who has put a smile on your pretty face" I said, hugging her back before pulling away
"That won't be a problem, I have told him a lot about you already. He wants to meet you too. Gosh, I can't believe I miss you so much" she hugged me once again
"I missed you too babe. All this talking has made me hungry, I need to eat. Want to eat something too?"
"Yes. While eating you will tell me all about the Greek god" she said winking at me
"Oh no!.." I exclaimed, chuckling
"You thought I had forgotten right,.. how can I? Never" she said while laughing.
She walked past me leaving my room, probably heading to the dining. Shaking my head at her behavior I followed suit but I went to the kitchen instead.
"I will be right there girl" I called, letting Kylie know I am no longer behind her.
In the kitchen madam Juliet was making something that looks like a sauce. Hmm,.. the smell is Divine
"What's for lunch?" I asked
"I'm making Chinese rice and chicken curry sauce," she said, smiling at me. "You girls must be hungry, go and have your seat lunch will be served soon"
"Okay" I said.
But, I was still lingering in the kitchen looking for something to eat. Then I saw some cooked beef she had fried and spiced, it looked so appetizing. I must have some, gently I tried to steal some but was caught before my hand got to the bowl.
"Stop that.." she said, hitting my hand with her kitchen napkin.
Oh, no! I chuckled. She never liked it when one took something before it was served. What kind of rule is that?" I wonder
"You know I don't like it"
"But I am hungry," I lamented. Just then, my stomach growled.
I looked at her pointing at my stomach "See, it can't wait any longer" I said giving her a slight frown
"Alright, I baked some of your favorite cake this morning, you can have some with your friend. It is in the fridge"
Yay! This is good news. I jumped up excitedly giving her a light peck on her cheek,
"You are the best"
"I know," she said smiling. Lightly, she patted my hand.
"Oh this is where you are, your friend is asking of you ma'am" Came Miranda's voice as she enters the kitchen.
Wow she is back, I am so excited to see her. The last time, I heard she wasn't feeling too well and when I went to check on her the next day after I returned from work, I was told she went on a short break.
"When did you return?" I asked giving her a warm hug
"Some minutes ago" she said returning my embrace
"Aww, okay. I missed you so much, welcome back dear. How is everyone at home?"
"They are all fine, I missed you too ma'am. Is there anything you need from the kitchen?"
"Yes I was about to get cake for myself and Kylie"
"Okay, I will get it for you"
"Thank you"
Miranda served two slices of cake each for me and Cathy. She is such a sweetheart, always helping me. I know it is her job and all but, this is different.. probably because I consider her a friend and not a maid.
Collecting the cake from her I exit the kitchen and went to Kylie who has been screaming my name non stop
"What is her problem?" I wonder
"I am here okay, you can stop screaming now. Goodness, the whole building will collapse if you keep screaming like this" I said to her immediately as I entered the dining room.
"And what are you holding? Don't tell me that's what we are having for lunch!"
"O.M.G! Relax girl, this is just an appetizer"
"Oh better, I was about to faint" she said panting holding her chest dramatically
I am not surprised at all, Kylie has always been this dramatic. Exaggerating things. Ignoring her, I took my seat and started eating after giving her cake to her.
"Hmm this is delicious"
"Yeah, right" she said, nodding her head in agreement. "So tell me more about your boss, is he handsome? Gosh is he sexy, on a scale of one to ten how hot is he?"
I tapped my chin lightly with my finger pretending to think about the answer before responding
"I will give him a nine and the half" Sounding unexcited
Kylie countenance changed, a frown appeared on her cute face again. I almost laughed at her expression, she looks like a child that has been denied her candy.
"Cathy!"
"What, why so much anger huh?"
I can't believe she is angry over a guy she hasn't met, she can't be serious.
She rolled her eyes at me before responding "You're such a bore."
For some reason she didn't seem pleased with my answer. I looked at her with a confusing expression making her know I don't know what the hell she is on about.
"Why are you looking at me like that, you want to claim you don't understand why I am pissed?"
"Yes I don't, I am confused"
"I am pissed because of your response. What do you mean by nine and a half? Babe, sometimes I don't understand you. It is high time you need to let go your judgmental behavior and be more accepting"
"Judgmental, How? You asked a question and I gave you an answer. Now you are the one who is being judgmental" I said rolling my eyes at her
"Yes you did, but why do you have to sound like that? Just say it as it is, period!"
"Okay, I think we need to drop this. I have no idea where this conversation is heading to" I said looking sad. She can be confusing at times
"Cathy, running away won't make it go. You have to face it and be honest with yourself, this is a little advice from me babe"
Without responding I went back to my cake. so relieved when madam Juliet with Miranda came in with our lunch, at least she will drop this topic for now. The table was set, and without waiting for my family, I and Kylie started eating.
Just then I realized I didn't see her luggage when she entered my room and I can't find it anywhere either.
"Kylie.."
With a mouth full of food she responded "Yeah?"
"Where is your luggage didn't see you with any when you entered my room"
"Oh yes, I'm not sleeping over. Have some things to sort out, so will be leaving once I am done with my food"
Not happy with the news I heard but have no choice but to accept it.
"Okay, will miss you" I said
"Aww, me too. I will call you babe"
As I observed her I noticed she is super excited with the thing she wants to sort out, and Kylie never gets excited over work only when she is going over to a man's place.
"Are you sure this thing has nothing to do with the new guy you met in Australia?" I asked, giving her a slight nudge on her shoulder teasing her.
Kylie laughed out loud, her laughter confirmed my suspicion, she is definitely going over to his place
Still laughing she said, "Cathy you're something else"
"I know right, I am your best friend after all, know your every move even without you saying it. Anyway, like I said earlier you need to take it slow, I don't want you getting hurt this time around okay?"
"Yes Mom I will" she teased
"That's good"
Done with lunch I see Kylie off, standing outside till her car was out of sight. It was nice talking to her, I have missed her so much.
Thinking about Adam has drained me emotionally, I can't think straight without him coming up. And he has been ignoring me recently, ever since the incident in his office he seemed withdrawn.
Before entering the house I heard the sound of a car driving in. Could it perhaps be Kylie maybe she forgot something and is back to pick it. But when I turned back, the car driving in wasn't Kylie's, in fact I had never seen it before.
From where I stood, I strained my eyes trying to see if I could get a clearer picture of the face of the person driving in but I couldn't, the distance was just too far. All I can tell from the shape of his head is that he is a man and he isn't alone, another man is with him.
They must be business partners of dad and want to discuss work related issues. Dad sometimes has these unusual meetings on weekends, I just hope it is nothing serious because lately he looks worried.
Entering the house, I tried going to my room when Patricia called
"Hey, Cathy, what are you doing?"
"Nothing, about going to my room. Need something?"
"Not really. Actually, Michael is coming over so I was wondering if you would like to meet him since you guys haven't met"
"Really, yes I would love that. So when is he coming?"
"Today, silly. He must be close by now."
Oh, that means the man I saw outside a few minutes ago must be Michael.
"I think he is here already" I said
"Really?" She asked excitedly
"Yeah, but not too sure. There are two men outside, is Michael perhaps coming with a friend?
"Unrm, don't think so. He didn't say anything about bringing someone."
"Oh, I see. Maybe it is not Michael then"
"Yeah, probably dad's business partners. Why don't you join me in the sofa,.. we can eat small chops as we wait for him"
"Nah, I can't. Just finished having lunch some minutes ago"
"I won't accept no as an answer, come join me you will love it" she insisted
"Alright" I can't say no to food. Smiling, I Joined her on the sofa.
"John,.." Patricia called "Please get an extra plate of small chops for Cathy," She said when John entered the sitting room where we were.
In the meantime, I was eating hers. Hmm, she is right, it is so nice.
"Cathy, you will finish mine before yours get here" she complained noticing the almost empty plate
Finally, John arrived with mine "Thank you" I said as I collected it from him
"Hmmm.. this is so nice." I said with a mouthful of chicken
"Yeah, I told you so," she said, chuckling.
