Robert was the one who went out of the car and called in the house of the girl named Marga. Auguste stayed in the passenger seat with her, because he has to wake her up on her drunken slumber.
“Marga…” He tapped her face lightly. “Marga… We’re here.”
Marga slowly turned her head to face him. Her eyes opened but remained half closed, though it’s enough for her to see him. She was a little surprised when she saw his face that she moved away from him. She looked around, her eyes now wide open. It seems she was able to decipher where she is.
Meanwhile, a woman in her mid-sixties went out of the house to open the wooden gate for Robert, but aside from her, a golden retriever came rushing out of the house. Robert almost jumped away as the huge dog barked loudly at him. It stopped only when the older woman called his name.
“Uh… I-Is this the house of…” Robert looked at the car. “M-Marga?”
The old woman frowned, and before she can speak, the girl named Marga went out of the car, obviously still a little confused. She run to the bamboo gate.
“Marga!” the woman called as she became confused at what is happening.
Marga looked at Robert instead. “Who are you?”
“Uh… I’m Mr. Ortega’s driver.” He then looked at the car.
Auguste did not plan on getting out of the car, but Marga left the door open so she and her mother already saw him. He has no choice but to get out of his Polar White Mercedes-Benz E 350 RWD Sedan and meet Marga’s mother. Also, he has to give Marga her handbag that she left on the backseat.
“Good evening, Ma’am,” he said to the older woman.
“Good evening… Ah… Just call me Beatriz.”
Auguste smiled at her, and then he looked at Marga. He handed her the handbag he was holding.
“You were too drunk, so we decided to take you home.”
Marga took the handbag but did not say anything and just stared at Auguste.
The golden retriever caught Auguste’s attention. He barked at him, but it stopped when Auguste looked at him.
“Mac!” the older woman called again to the dog.
August smiled at the dog. “Hello, Buddy.”
The two looked at each other, then Auguste slowly reached for the dog’s head. Surprisingly, the dog allowed him to touch him. It made Auguste smile and amaze the others.
“We’ll go ahead,” Auguste said to Beatriz. “Marga, nice meeting you.”
Marga just nodded, still looking confused.
Auguste smiled and nodded again to Beatriz before going back to his car. When Auguste is sitting down properly on the backseat, Robert closed the door, then he drove away from Marga’s house as the mother and daughter looked on.
“Such a handsome man, that one,” Beatriz commented.
“So handsome…”
Margaret’s memory started coming back as she now remembers what happened in Pure Act Café earlier. She is very lucky that she was able to meet that guy. Even though this is not the first time she had met and mingled with handsome men, this is the first time that she was able to talk to one the way she did at the restaurant. That is probably the first time she had a heart to heart talk with a guy like him.
“Who is that guy, by the way?”
Margaret looked at her mother. “Actually, I don’t know.” She finally remembered that she didn’t even ask his name!
“You don’t know him, but you drank with him?”
Margaret is just starting to realize that mistake she had made. Or, was it really a mistake? She turned out to be fine anyway, and no damage has been done.
“But, he took me home safely, so…”
“Even so!” Beatriz’ voice rose a notch. “You drank with a guy you don’t know, and you didn’t even bother asking who he was? What if he turned out to be someone bad? What do you think he could have done? We might not be talking right now if that was the case.”
Margaret’s head throbbed all of a sudden. “Mother, let’s not dwell about those things anymore. What’s important is I’m now here with you, safe and sound. Please don’t nag at me anymore and my head feels like it wants to explode.”
Beatriz took a deep breath, obviously trying to calm herself. “Let’s go inside so that you could clean up yourself and rest. You smell of puke.”
Margaret remembered what happened earlier. “I did throw up.”
“You puked in front of that handsome guy? What a shame you were?”
Margaret just shook her head as she went inside their house with her mother and their dog Mac.
*******************************************************************************
Even though Auguste slept late last night, he still woke up early the following day to jog around their community. He’s used to little sleep since he became the COO of the Ortega Group, and he knows that will not change now that he has become the CEO. It might even get worse.
After jogging, he took a shower, then ate breakfast. It’s Saturday, and it’s just normal for his parents to stay in bed late. It’s eight o’clock already, but his parents are still in their room. Even Geoffroy is not yet up, but he doubts he’s even at home now. Especially since he heard when they talked on the phone last night that he’s with a woman.
After eating breakfast, he went to the library that also serves as his office. It used to be his and Geoffroy’s study room, but now that they’re grown ups and already working in their family’s company, Geoffroy rarely goes into that room. Actually, he rarely goes into the company to work. Auguste might love his brother, but when it comes to responsibilities, he can’t help but be the company’s CEO and be strict against Geoffroy.
That’s why he was very surprised when his brother suddenly barged into the library. But no, he’s not there to work. He has another agenda and it’s something that Auguste would not have thought himself.
“How it the new viral sensation?”
Auguste didn’t answer. He just frowned. Why would he? He doesn’t have any idea what he’s talking about.
“Don’t tell me you don’t know yet?”
“I have no idea what you mean,” Auguste said as he went back to his laptop.
“Brother! You’re all over Tarlac Elite and you still don’t know?”
Tarlac Elite is a Facebook group composed of Tarlac’s wealthy individuals. Before it was composed only of the old rich of the province, but a few years ago, the Admin decided to include new money, those recently wealthy businessmen and professionals who managed to climb up Tarlac’s social class. It also includes the partners and children of those members. The Admin of the group are the ones who qualify a person who wants to be a member of the group, and sometimes they themselves sends invites to prospective group members.
Auguste is not a fan of that group. He just joined because his friends asked him to. More on bugged him into joining. Well, in the end he found it advantageous because he was able to use that group to stalk into a person he needs to deal with because of business.
The posts on that group usually stays inside and is not shared to outsiders. Sometimes, it does, but rarely. Since the members are rich people and they don’t want scandals or be the talk of the town, especially by those belonging to the lower classes, they do not share what is posted in the group. That's why the posts there are not known to the outside world.
Geoffroy took out his phone and opened Facebook. He looked for the post about his brother, then showed it to him.
“See?”
Auguste looked at the post. The Admin shared it with the caption “Who is the mystery girl, Auguste Ortega?” It was a picture of him and Marga laughing with each other!
