Tragedy

I step into the water and it's a welcome relief as the cool water laps at my chest, my mind wanders back to all the craziness of the past 48 hours. I've got some weirdo taking photos of me and weird messages but I also got my friend back even if he is pretending to be my fake boyfriend. I jump when two strong arms wrap around my waist.

"Calm down, there's a few strange people om the sand with cameras so just go with it." My body quivers at the contact and I can only hope he doesn't notice, Ry rests his chin in my shoulder.

"Ry, I don't think we need to do this." I turn in his arms to find him gazing down at me "You trust me Ava?" He asks but the burning intensity from his eyes renders me speechless "Ava?" He asks again "Yes I trust you." Because I do, I would trust him with my life I always have, he leans in and buries his face into the crook of neck as much as I like this feeling i know I've got to break away.

Taking a few steps back I lower my hand into the water and rise my hand quickly splashing water in Rys face hearing laughter I turn quickly to see Kayla and the lads watching us, suddenly I'm under the water surface coughing and spluttering to see Ry bent over laughing hysterically.

"You're dead" I scream, the next half an hour goes by with us repeatedly dunking each other in the water and laughing "Alright, I'm done. You want to go get some food?" As soon as Ry mentions food my stomach growls loudly making us both laugh, he wraps his arm around my waist and we make our way back to the others.

"You two look good together." Aaron laughs, "Shut it you!" I glare at him but laugh. When we arrive back at the beach house something doesn't seem right, you know sometimes you get a feeling something is wrong, well yeah that's what I am feeling right now and based on the way everyone is looking around they feel the same.

"Has the housekeeper been Kay?" Ry sounds tense "No, she's not coming until we go tomorrow, why?" I walk into the kitchen and the sight before me is unbelievable everyone turns to look at me when I enter "What's going on?" Damn my voice sounds shakey. No one answers me so I walk over to the huge bouquet of flowers and pick up the card removing it from it's envelope I read the message and the card falls from my hand everything and there's a sharp pain in my hip and I fall to the ground slowly everything starts going dark and I can't see anyone, I can hear their voices.

"Ava, come on keep your eyes open, please babe keep your eyes open." Thats Ry I would recognise his voice anywhere.

"Shit, Ava!" Kayla is screaming.

"Call an ambulance now!" Back to Ry.

Then silence, "no don't leave me!"

Ry

"AVA! Get me towels quickly Kayla!" She disappears and re emerges with bundles of towels, the lads have ran outside to see if they can see anything.

"The ambulance is on it's way Ry, is-is she breathing?" Kay is a mess, "She's got a pulse but it's faint" Suddenly the paramedics are in the room and police are here too, everything is a blur.

"Ry? You listening?" My head snaps around to my mom, I didn't even know she was here, when did she get here and why is she back? she pulls me up from my chair in the hospital waiting room and into her arms.

"Sorry mom, what did you say?"

"I said Avas parents are on their way they'll be here in a few hours."

"Family of Ava Reed?" A male doctor stands at the doorway of the room and everyone immediately stands "I'm Dr Jeffries, the surgery went well we have put a plate and some pins into her hip and she's coming around from the anesthesia and is asking for her boyfriend." He glances around us all and James shoves me forward.

"Follow me please." I do as he says still not fully aware of what is going on he leads me into a large room I rush towards the bed which makes her look smaller than she already is, and the wires wow there's to many wires.

"Hey babe" she smirks, shit I don't realise the tears until her soft hand strokes my cheek "hey I'm alright." She coos softly like I'm the injured one.

"How you feeling beautiful?" She tries to move up the bed but the pain is written all over her face the door opens and two police officers enter.
