Knot a Fun Time

The next part of this "obstacle course", as they called it, is a hallway. I know that doesn't sound that difficult, but what if I told you that there are a bunch of turrets loaded with rubber bullets surrounding the place.

Magic exists so people won't die from the rubber bullets, even if they are shot through the eye. Basically, if you are hit by even one bullet in a place where you would normally die, you are teleported to the beginning of the hallway.

I could use 'Singularity' but... wouldn't it look cooler if I just walk through the hallway repelling any bullets coming at me with Gravity magic? I think so... so I'm doing that.

I asked Sasha if she wanted me to repel any bullets coming at her with my magic, and she just said she wanted to show off too. So basically now we are both walking through this hallway now.

I'm repelling all the bullets coming at me, and she is cutting them in half as they come at her with her claws. That is impressive because the average maximum velocity for a bullet is 760 meters per second. That is literally like two times the speed of sound so I have no idea how she's keeping up.

After getting past the hallway, we come across a lake. Across the lake, there is a flag representing the next part of the course. I'm guessing we have to find our way across the lake. Does that even count as an obstacle? I don't know. I guess so...

I use gravity to create pressure, thus making the lake freeze. Basically, I compress the molecules so much that they become solid. Increasing pressure does increase boiling point after all.

Sasha and I walk across the lake, and then I unfreeze the lake. That took a lot of MP! The amount of water made it so much harder to freeze!

Anyway, the next part of the course is a lot more traditional. There is a rope, and we have to use it to swing across a huge hole in the ground. It may sound simple, and possibly easy, but no, this is a magic tournament after all.

The rope is thin and impossible to grab. On top of that, I'm pretty sure I'd snap under anyone's weight. The weight part isn't a problem for someone like me who controls their own weight, but if I can't grab the rope that's a problem.

If you are wondering why I'm not just tying my wrist to it or something, well one I don't wanna cut myself, and two it is just far enough you have to jump to reach it, at least for me it is.

Huh... I'm not allowed to float, and even with Gravity magic, it's too far to jump... I'm stumped on what to do. If only I could expand the size of the rope... wait.

Pop quiz, how did the planets form? The answer is complicated, but part of it consists of them colliding with other big rocks in their path and growing larger. Once they reached a certain size, they started pulling other big rocks towards them and colliding with them and so on and so forth.

What if I could make the rope bigger by increasing its gravity, and making other things attach to the rope, and grow the size... It's not nearly as big as a scale as the planets, but it works.

I increase the gravity and start throwing stuff like dirt and rocks at the rope. Just like planned, they start to attach to the rope and increase its size. I grab Sasha and jump to the rope and swing. I decrease our weight just in case and make it to the other side.

Just because I can, I make the rope's gravity push away everything. The stuff already bonded to the rope stays, but now if anyone tries to grab the rope, they will be pushed away. I don't know if that's mean or not, but they'll find something out.

The end is within view, only one more obstacle lies in wait. The last one is a huge hole with tall walls surrounding it. It looks like a large auditorium, if you dug a huge hole instead of making a floor, and took away two opposite walls.

There are two ways through this, pulling the same trick of walking on the wall or creating something to walk on.

I could have done this with the previous obstacle, actually, really it could have worked with a couple of others, but I wanted to save this trick for last. I plan to make a platform to walk on by floating a bunch of objects in the shape of a path.

I make a couple of large stones near to course float and come towards the hole, then organize them into a pathway. I then lower the pathway over the hole to walk across. This is constantly consuming MP like crazy, but it looks sick, so who cares.

Sasha and I walk across the path and then I drop the path into the hole, finally the end is just a long walk away. We are in the home stretch!

Suddenly I see two blurs zoom past us, an ice path behind one blur, and a fire path behind the other, the two are moving so fast I can't make them out, but the magic gives it away. Probably the two biggest competitors in this tournament, Jane Tear and Carl Flame.

"The winners of this round are Jane Tear and Carl Flame!"

Dang it! They beat us to the end! How were they running so fast, and why didn't they do that in the previous round! Were they hiding this or something? They only used it just now... maybe there was some kind of condition to using it?

Whatever the reason, they chose now to use that technique, and now Sasha and I are in second place for this round. Whatever, we're going to make up for it next round!
