It was by the night of the day she woke up that her parents were finally able to come by to check on her.
Her mother hugged her tight and she could only helplessly pat her in the back.
Tears were threatening to fall from her eyes again, but thankfully, she was able to rein it in.
She... never had anyone who genuinely worried and cared for her in her last life.
But in this life, she got this. Finally, she knew what it's like to have someone look out for her.
Like those mothers who would always check on their children when she was in her kindergarten.
Someone who'd pack them with delicious treats and lunch, and some even feed them patiently.
Someone who'd pat their faces and backs to wipe off their sweat - from playing under the sun for a bit too much.
Someone who'd tie their shoelace when needed.
Someone who'd make their hair into cute twin tails or fix their hair when it gets untidy.
Someone who'd cover them with cotton-padded jackets when it's cold, or raincoats and umbrellas when it rains.
Someone who'd hug them when they cry.
It... it felt nice. She hopes it'd last longer.
But soon, the warm embrace left her.
"You...you're finally awake. We were so worried about you." Mother Lin said.
"Sis, I'm pretty sure I taught you how to cross the lane when we were younger. How could you be so forgetful?" her brother, who from this body's memories is only two years older than her, jokingly said to ease the serious atmosphere inside the ward.
Her father, only glanced at the bandage on her temple and said nothing.
Her mother elbowed her father on her stomach. "Can you a little bit more concerned? Talking won't cause you a penny, you know?"
Her father just glanced at her mither while holding his pained stomach.
"Mom, don't be too harsh on dad. Sis got her attitude from him. Look, she hasn't even talked since we entered. Shut up for a while, okay?" her brother pointed out.
Mother Lin turned her attention to him and slapped his back. Brother Lin then faked a cry with matching wiping of fake tears. Mother Lin acted as if she was going to hit him again, and Brother Lin finally moved away from her.
After that, Mother Lin's attention turned back to her and Alyssa merely nodded.
Apparantly, her family doesn't know that she was in a relationship with Kevin Ming. They didn't even know she was in a relationship with anyone.
If they knew, they would never let her out of the house. And they would sermon her about how wrong she was right now of they knew that he was the reason she nearly died.
The family stayed with her until 8pm, leaving for dinner after they made sure she had finished hers. They promised to come back some time tomorrow to check on her.
Alyssa Lin's family had a pharmacy thery run themselves. Her brother does the deliveries. While her mom and dad watches and operates the store. While she was an undergraduate student.
Being the first granddaughter, and the only and younger daughter in the family of four — she was pampered lots.
She had all the love she could ask for.
What a lucky kid.
...
That boyfriend of hers, did not contact her all this time. Not even a visit or a call, even a text. Nada.
As she thought about that person, in her mind, pictures of the handsome face of the guy were being projected.
His smile was so charming. Instead of looking cute, he looked hot — and exudes that seductive aura. No wonder this Alyssa had a relationship with him. An enchanting devil, he was.
But, she can't keep in touch with that guy anymore. She can't afford to lose another life. Besides, she's not Alyssa.
Reaching for her phone, which luckily could be unlocked with her fingerprint, she opened the messaging app, and typed a message, sending it to the contact '♥'.
"We're through."
It's cruel and kindof a jerk move to break up with someone over a text message, but she can't really afford to meet the guy in person, and this is the best way she could think of by the moment.
She then deleted the chat he had with him and put his number in the blacklist. Closing the app, she checked the other contents of the phone while lying on her back on the white bed, covered in a thin white quilt.
She deleted all the pictures she had with that guy, which was in a hidden folder.
She also deleted their chat on an online app, and unfriended and unfollowed him in all of her social media accounts.
As she turned to her email, there was unexpectedly a message there.
"I hope you're okay." sent by 'Unknown' and email address
This must be Kevin. Who uses gmail to deliver personal messages? What a weirdo.
She also blocked his email and deleted all the previous messages from him.
She then put down her phone by her side, closing her eyes.
I hope he doesn't mess with me anymore, she thought.
Soon, she drifted off to a dreamless sleep.
...
She was discharged 3 days later after her body has stabalized. She took a day off of school in her own apartment near the university.
She ate, drank water, took a bath, slept, watched dramas, played with her phone, and slept for the whole day.
Soon the sun rose over the horizon and she woke up, refreshed her self, wore a white shirt with minimalistic print pairwd with denim fitted jeans, made a sumptuous breakfast, and left for school on a Wednesday morning.
She hopes not to come face to face with the devil.
But, she seemed to have forgotten about her shitty luck.
