Chapter 21: Theodore

One year later

I walked into the house from the hospital

"Aunty Jane Good afternoon" she looked up from her bundle of joy

" How is he??" She looked down at her baby

" He's still not showing any signs of waking up"

" How's my baby cousin??" I carried him from her laps and sat on the couch

" Theodore" I looked at him trying to hold my finger, I smiled as a tear dropped from my heart

The thought of him not having a father sucks...

Some months back.....

Ding ding

I walked to the door from the kitchen

"Who is it??" I looked through the glass and smiled

" Aunty Jane is back" I opened the door as she walked in with a box

" Welcome" I took the box from her

"What's this??" She sat down first and asked for water, I think she's almost due for delivery

" It was delivered to my office yesterday" I looked at it again and raised my eyebrows

Dragging it closer to me, I tore the cellotape open and saw a letter

" Just to send one letter" I chuckled, picked up the letter and checked the address

It's from the prison, Uncle James??

I tore the envelope open and unfolded the paper

I looked at her and she was peacefully asleep

I read through the letter:

Dear Jane,

I know I have no right to send you a letter after what I did, buti couldn't help myself...I was blinded by revenge, all the times I spent with you was magical and I would cherish it for life.

I heard you're pregnant, I'm sincerely sorry I couldn't be there to see our baby grow up into a fine young man...I don't know what you'd think about naming him Theodore, my late Twin brother's name...That's my last wish....

I turned it to the back and saw nothing else

What does he mean by last wish?? I folded it and put it on the table before going back to the kitchen...

The next morning

" Kelechi" I ran down the staircase to see aunty Jane all dressed up

" Where are you going??" She picked her car keys

" I'll be back soon" she looked at me before walking out the door

I was about after I couldn't her the sound of her tyre when I noticed the letter was gone

" That's where she went to" I rolled my eyes and walked back upstairs

****************************

I wore my black sneakers and picked up my phone heading for the door when it rang

" Hello??"

" Are you related to Miss Jane Adedoyin" I heart skipped a beat

" What happened to her??" I locked the door and kept the key in my pocket

" She collapsed in the prison cell while talking to an officer" Oh God

" What hospital??!!"

" I'll be there soon" I ran to Alex's house

I rang the doorbell

He's around thank God

" K.C, what's wrong??" I exhaled

" Could you take me to the hospital??"

" My aunt collapsed"

" Sure"

" Lemme get my keys" he ran in and was out within 2 minutes

*********************

"Doctor, would she be okay??" I looked at the male doctor

" She'll have to deliver the baby"

" She's went into shock and it could affect her baby

" But she's unconscious"

" We'll have to perform C.S on her"

I nodded my head

" As long as they'll both be healthy and safe"

" We'll have the surgery in two hours" the doctor walked out of the ward

4 hours later

I walked to the doctor

"Was it successful??" He nodded

" Both the baby and the mother survived" I chuckled nervously and smiled

" God thank you" I whispered closing my eyes

" Alex!!, The operation was successful" I hugged him as tears welled up in my eyes

He held me tighter

He pushed me back gently, cleaned my tears with a handkerchief and almost immediately locked my lips with his

"No no no" I pushed him back

" I'm sorry"

" I have a boyfriend" he said at the same time I did and rolled his eyes

" Your so called boyfriend has been in coma for over 8 months" he held my hand

" I appreciate your help Alex, I think you should go get some rest" I pulled my hand out of his

" If you ever need anything or change your mind about me, my arms are open" he pecked my forehead and started walking to the reception hall

" Can I see the baby??" I asked the nurse as I went where the doctor instructed me

She nodded and handed me a nose mask....

I cleaned the tears that were blurring my eyes when I saw him... Theodore Murray.
