Chapter 03: The first visit

Where am I?

I looked everywhere for an answer but could not identify anything far away, in front of my eyes were only the bars of the crib, a wooden crib I might add, it is quite exhausting to have baby eyes, besides my uncomfortable limbs, the lack of energy and the impossibility to relieve myself without assistance.

I really feel some embarrassment every time my mother has to come and clean up my mess and it's not something I can control, my body doesn't move as I would like it to, an experience I don't wish on anyone.

On the other hand my research is going well, I can gather a lot of information that I could not get as a student, only by living my life as a baby I can experience all this.

Of course situations in general are not going as I would like, part of it is my experience as a baby, when nine weeks passed I could get all my vision, my eyes could now focus at all distances and I could see even the smallest details, it took me a week earlier than predicted, this may be due to the constant tests I did to test my progress. But while experimenting with my increased vision I discovered a fact that would have revolutionized everyone in my past life, I could see in the dark, it is as if my primitive genes were active.

But it was when I got my full vision that I was surprised once again. Since the beginning of my reincarnation I had a question in my mind but I did not worry about it until I had the possibility to answer it myself.

When I looked around I realized that I was not in a foreign country, but I was in the middle of a medieval type of society, in my mind I thought I was in some Latin American country but nobody seems to speak Spanish but a different language, obviously I realized because it is a language which I never heard.

I had some suspicions because I could not see anything similar to a hospital when I gave birth, I simply refused to accept it because it sounded even more crazy than reincarnate, but apparently everything that happened was real.

I died as a result of a really unfortunate accident leaving many uncompleted things behind and I was reincarnated as a baby, in a different world like the Asian stories but in a world of medieval order.

It seems more and more far-fetched, even a time travel seems more real than everything that happened to me.

"Dear, Apsirto sighs too much is it normal for a baby to sigh like that?" my mother who always watched me from the side asked my carefree father who was next to her with luxurious clothes, by the way my mother's name is Lauren Vaughan or that's what I can understand, the truth was not difficult to understand the language considering that there are words very similar to my native vocabulary and others are simply variations, of course I still can not understand everything perfectly but I can have the context of the conversations.

"I think it's time for me to go outside, the people of the territory must see the next heir" my father smiled with extreme confidence, somehow his confidence made me distrustful, my father's name is Joey Vaughan and he is lord of the Denizi territory.

My father took me in his arms "Apsirto and I will go to the city, everyone will be able to see us from the horse".

"On horseback?" asked my mother "It's too dangerous."

"You have nothing to fear my dear, I am after all I am the lord of the city and I have my guards with me, it's just a reconnaissance as usual" my father seemed drunk in his confidence, I wanted to refuse his offer but meeting a medieval city is too tempting a deal.

Finally after my mother made sure my father was taking me in a safe way we were able to leave the 'mansion' of the city lord, my mind was full of expectations about this city of a world.

"This is the city of Khalkos son" my father introduced the city with pride but I couldn't see where his pride really was, I mean the city barely and barely has enough to call itself a city, if I were the king I would designate this place as a village or a town.

I was a high school student with one of the highest IQ's in history and several university degrees under my belt, I had lived my life among huge skyscrapers as far as the eye could see, with cars everywhere, pedestrians in large numbers and state of the art technology. However, after my reincarnation I became the son of the lord of a city and count of a territory, where the main capital city of the territory only had ten thousand people.

My father took me to the end of the city that bordered to what was supposed to be the coastal territory of the city "Look son, this is the port of our territory" was only enough to give me a look at my face to know how disappointed I was, the supposed port that my father was proud of was smaller than the artisanal fishermen in my previous life, even when it was standing and did not seem to have many details only had what was necessary for two fishing boats which allowed me to understand the magnitude of the situation of the territory, of course I needed to know more of the territory to judge my father.

But even though the city was not big it had its positive point that made it different from my previous life, all the inhabitants seemed to admire and respect my father, every time we moved forward they greeted him friendly and caressed me or pulled me by the cheek.

I also understood a little of the diversity in the population, at least 40% of the inhabitants are elderly people who are over their viable age to work, another 20% seem to be children, the rest is only reduced to 40% of inhabitants in full maturity. Another fact that I was able to organize was the fact that the population of men and women seems to be homologous.

In conclusion there is a shortage of manpower for a boost in the territory but if properly organized the city could advance in its technology.

When I got home, my father, proud of his work as lord of the city, talked to me a lot about his plans for the future of the territory, but they were simply unrealistic in many ways.
