Chapter 05: The Beginning of a Journey

"Come on come on Apsirto, you will never be able to beat me with that attitude, move move faster, let your arms swing hard like a fan" my father exclaimed with joy and moved his feet as if he was in a boxing ring, he pointed a wooden sword at me as if it was totally natural, I who am only three years old and can barely move freely.

Since I turned three years old about two months ago, my father started my training in the art of the sword just as my grandfather did when he was my age, and my grandfather at his three years with the great-grandfather, basically a succession of traditions that cannot be broken in my generation, but I must mention that I am not a fan of this sword thing. A man of science like me shouldn't be swinging a sword but should be thinking of solutions to the problems of the territory, but of course since I'm a kid I don't have the necessary respect, I really hate being reborn.

"ugh" swung my sword to the right and my father gracefully put his sword to stop it.

"you have many openings, you should stick with the stance I instruct you" my father took possession once again, as I saw it my father's stance had many openings but according to his story it is the familiar fighting stance and it is really effective against stronger opponents.

I wish I had taken some fencing course in my previous life or practiced something like karate, come to think of it I didn't have much time back then.

"Faster, swing your sword hard but gracefully, it's not just about swinging the sword like it's a stick" my father was being really serious about this sword training thing.

"But it's made of wood" I said interrupting his dialogue.

"No- yes, it's made of wood but it's a sword" I could see how to suppress his anger, making fun of a sword in front of him must be his weak point, as I'm a kid he can't just get annoyed and try to explain it, interesting "you have to use it just like a sword no matter what material it's made of do you understand?"

I nodded at the question, there was no merit in making him madder, besides in this supposed medieval era world combat knowledge apparently is the most important thing. Besides swordsmanship teachings my father hasn't referred to anything else, I guess most scientific inventions are not yet born "sigh...." I unintentionally sighed as I swung the sword making my father angry once again.

Inside territory there was nothing special I can mention and it's not like I can leave the mansion either, according to my father I have to grow up a little more before I leave because it's not safe.

The days continued to pass while my training progressed slowly, dad had formed a whole training routine for me and I had to follow it to the letter, in the routine were even annexed the hours of sleeping and eating.

To fulfill my duties as a reincarnated human and former student scientist, I had as a goal to annex all the things that were in my surroundings in a book or well 'sheets', unfortunately I did not have access to a notebook or a notebook, all there was were yellowed sheets like that of the feudal era and a pen to write, it was an exciting feeling to take a pen for the first time.

Among the things I wrote down in the notebooks were the ingredients that were used for cooking, I wrote down details, flavors and their equivalents to those in my previous world, asking Clara how she can find out how they were grown. The biggest encounter in this world is barley, still no one develops the method to make it alcohol, I guess it is due to its fermentation time or the materials needed, from my available sources of information (the kitchen, the cellar and clara) in this world only wine is used for drinking and a drink that is obtained from special stones.

I also recreated my alphabet and units of measurement, I have to adapt all my knowledge for everyday life, I would hate to have to describe a distance in kilometers and nobody understands me.

By the way, in this world there is no periodic table or maybe there is but no one in the territory knows about it.

Lauren's point of view

My son is already three years old, I am against his swordsmanship training but I simply cannot forbid it, it is necessary if I want Apsirto can live a long life and rule the territory as it should be.

But every time I see him training I feel he suffers, the expression on his face screams at me to help him and he doesn't want to train.

"Clara, where is Apsirto?"

Clara looked all around when I asked her and then she said quietly "the young master must be in the cellar"

"in the cellar?" I asked surprised, it's true that Apsirto has always been strange but he has no reason to go to the cellar, it's just ridiculous.

"yes, for a few days now he's been asking questions of all kinds and then he goes to the cellar mumbling things to himself"

"what kind of things does he ask?"

"how vegetables are grown, what is used to get drunk or what things are called. Apparently the young master reached the age of curiosity" Clara touched a cheek with her index finger "but it's also probably just drawings, he always carries sheets of paper around"

"just drawings, of course, they can only be drawings."
