Without knowing she was being watched, she went along her merry way, eating like she was eating some forbidden fruit. She knew this was a one-time thing. She would never eat this food again in her lifetime, she was fine being a peasant. Some of the upper-class ladies scoffed at her as she ate, but she paid no mind. After she had tried everything that was set out, she felt full, really ready to be a wallflower and just watch from the sidelines. Even Iesurdrar was happy with that, watching from the sides while he occasionally got food from Cattaleya. He didn't need food really, he could gather energy from the air or from Cattaleya herself, but food was a nice thing to have sometimes.
While she was standing there, fixing the cloth mask that covered a small part of her face, she barely noticed the person walking towards her. She really didn't like authority. It was said that you could feel the power of a more powerful being near you, but since she was the most powerful, why did she need to pay attention at all?
Hearing someone behind her, she automatically balled her hands into fists, ready to punch the lights out of the person coming up to her. Glancing up into the man's eyes, she gave him a curious look before looking down at the Shadowfox next to him. It stood as tall as her chest, but that didn't scare her at all.
"Hi-" was all she heard from the man. Her eyes flashed white for a moment as she saw his heartbeat. It was pumping fast, faster than it should normally be pumping. Strange, why would he be nervous, did he find out about Iesurdrar already? Taking a step back from them so there was a noticeable distance from him, she unballed her fists. Then she noticed how he was dressed, very fancily, he must be rich.
"Hello. Are you looking for someone or something?" She asked him, giving him a soft smile while Iesurdrar sat on her shoulder soundly, staring down at the Shadowfox curiously. Animals couldn't talk to each other, but they could get general feelings and emotions from each other. When she spoke, he seemed to snap out of his trance and his black eyes focused on hers.
"Oh um, yes. I was wondering if you would like to dance with me?" He asked. Raising one of her brows in surprise, she was glad the mask could cover that reaction at least. She chewed on the inside of her cheek before nodding her head. Then he reached his hand out to her, taking a step forward to be closer. Taking his hand carefully, he walked with her to the dance floor. Most people didn't recognize him as the Prince, since they hadn't seen him like the people on the second floor did.
"I'll warn you, I've never danced before." She joked, but she was serious. The way she spoke, she walked, she carried herself, it was obvious she wasn't from the castle, but it carried confidence and volumes to the people upstairs. He looked at her, standing in the center of the dance floor and pulled her close to him, smiling like a fool.
"Don't worry, I'll teach you." He said, putting one of his hands on her waist and the hand he held her into his shoulder height.
Her eyes flashed white for a second, narrowing at his hand on her waist before she closed them. Taking a deep breath, she gave him a dangerous smile again. She could feel him shift slightly under her smile. The Shadowfox next to him seemed to notice the change, softly growled. Looking down at the fox, she gave him that same smile.
