Chapter 19: Is She The One?

It was hardly 7.00 pm, but it was already dark. The lawn looked surreal as the bamboo torches seemed to be keeping the mist beyond the garden perimeter. It looked like some exotic forest on a South Sea island.

“Hey, Muz, the meat is ready,” Bob called out as he picked a choice piece out.

He turned to Jackie who had been helping him at the grill.

“Here you go. The loin is the best cut -- medium-rare, you’ll love it.”

“Thanks, Bob. It looks divine -- just the way I love it,” Jackie said, eyeing the grilled meat keenly as she brought her plate closer to the grill. “You’re pretty handy with the BBQ, I must say.”

“I’ve had much practice. We do it a lot in plantations.” Bob plopped another cut on a plate and said, “And could you bring this in for Tasha?”

“Yes, sure,” Jackie said as she cleaned the edge of the plates with a paper towel.

Tengku ambled out of the guest hall, grinning with two plates in his hands.
