Chapter 41

Cedric felt like the blast of fiery light and energy had wiped his mind. He could barely remember who he was as he stared at Jar'ra, her brown eyes fading into a rich honey. Her hand tenderly traced the veins of glittering gold through the deep red and orange scales on an immense, thorny head. Even her plain, brown hair had turned red at the roots. He felt frozen as his mind tried to reassemble itself and process what he was seeing.

"Korva. Where's Korva?" The Hunter pushed himself up and went to help Tom.

"I can't believe that worked." Jar'ra sighed and laughed as the adrenaline of the moment faded. "Did anyone see that?"

"We all saw it, Jar'ra, but how?" Cedric stood and dusted off his pants. "Did you... bond with Sun Riser?"

"Has anyone seen Korva? We're still in danger." The Hunter's gruff voice failed to grab everyone's attention, but the flash of color and heavy thud behind them at the base of the Mother Tree certainly did.
