Treasure Pavilion (3)

Author's note: this is from Seraphina's point of view

For a long second, I stared at the man with red eyes who was equally surprised to see me there.

Memories flashed of me meeting him in Paris, in my father's villa, and us attending several high-profile events where I accompanied my father.

The vampire bowed fully, his body angling at ninety degrees.

"Young Miss," he called respectfully. "I apologize for not greeting you as you arrived. I didn't know you would be here. I will accept my punishment. It was my negligence."

I laughed nervously, half relieved and half terrified that the man in front of me was Killian. With him knowing me as Aldus' daughter, things will go smoother. Unfortunately, I knew it was a matter of seconds before he asked about my father, and I was not sure if I would be able to deceive him.

I remembered Calista figuring out when I was lying because of my heart rate, and I was sure that Killian could do the same.
