CHAPTER 6

LUNA

Being shaken up after my interaction with Xavier, I decided to head up and take a nap.

Loud voices woke me up from my nap. With my eyes closed I couldn't tell where the voices were coming from or who it was. I open my eyes and get up from the couch to head to the bathroom. When suddenly the door bursts open and in comes Jax with the man from the other night following close behind. I stood there, not knowing what to do. Jax looks pissed off and the man, Marx, just looks scary with that gash underneath his eye.

I look between the two guys and decide to give them privacy since they hadn't acknowledged my presence at all.

I walk into the kitchen and get me some water. Voices bellow in my ears again and I hear Marx say, "Dude, she can't stay here. Send her back to the man she belongs to. We can't have trouble with Renault and his mafia. They are bigger than us."

I can feel my heart sink into my stomach. Tell me Jax won't do that. Jax please don't. My eyes widen at Marx's words and I just stand frozen. Listening to the conversation. There was a few minutes of silence after what the said when Jax finally spoke up, "She's my friend and I need to protect her. He is a dangerous man and she doesn't deserve to live in this world. So no, I will not send her packing."

"But boss. This will cause our downfall. He will kill everyone associated with you and her. He will do anything to get his girl back."

Boss? So wait. Jax is the boss of the business he told me about?? WHATT?

"Listen to me carefully Marx", Jax's tone changed from calm to angry. "She didn't even know about any of this. I had to tell her and now I need to keep her from this world. He can burn down my whole empire for all I care. I just don't want to see her burn. So it's final. I will not send her back to him."

"Man you must be pussy whipped. Especially if you wanna throw everything away for her. That must be some good pussy.", annoyance is clear in his voice. His words caught me by surprise and I let out a gasp.

Jax turned around and looked at me standing in the entrance to the kitchen. Marx's annoyed eyes traveled to me and he looked at me with hatred. I get it he's scared. Probably because he thinks Xavier is gonna burn down everything they have just so he can get me back. That's not true. Atleast I don't think it is. Xav doesn't really care about me.

Jax eyes traveled to my arm and landed on the bruise around it. His eyes narrowed and his facial expression yelled angry. He shot a glare at Marx who was still looking at me like I was a piece of shit. I get it. I'm with the enemy and I'm a liability but still he doesn't know me so how can he hate me.

Looking at me, Marx let out a sigh and turned to Jax, mumbling something under his breath before he nodded and left. Jax's eyes didn't leave my arm during the whole exchange. After Marx left there was an eery silence that felt like it has been going on for decades.

Clearing my throat, I walked from the kitchen and went to sit on the sofa. His eyes were still glued to me. Once I sat I looked up at him and saw his expression morph into concerned. Deciding to break the silence I ask "Jax, what you looking at?" I know damn well what he's looking at but I just want to break the silence.

His eyes lifted from my bruise to my face. He sighed, "What happened to your arm?"

Shit. What am I going to say. I don't want to tell him that it was Xavier. He might lose his shit. "I just bumped it on something"

"You and I both know that is a lie. Luna tell me what happened. Now!" His voice was laced with anger as he let out those words.

"Fine, Xav happened. He came here today to get me to come home with him and I said no. He got mad and grabbed my arm. That's all. After that he left."

Looking at me with those green eyes shining with anger he asked "That's all huh? He didn't treathen you did he?"

Swallowing the lump in my throat I shake my head no. His eyes narrowed before he shook his head and came to sit net to me. He took my hand and let his eyes meet mine. "I can protect you, love. If you just give me the chance to."

My heart started beating rapidly due to his words and his strong gaze. I tried looking away but his eyes are captivating. Having no words I just shake my head no. I can't let him or anyone else be harmed because I'm a stupid girl who couldn't stand up for herself or stick to plans.

"Luna, please just let me protect you.", I could see hurt and worry swimming in his eyes.

Pulling my hand away and getting up from the sofa I look at him, "No Jax. I can't let you put yourself or anyone in danger. He made it clear that I have to comeback or he will hurt everyone I love. So I will be going back."

Jumping up from the couch he reached for my hand but I pulled away. I could see how hurt he was that I wouldn't let him touch me but I don't care. " You are not going back. I can protect you and everyone else. I can protect myself. "

" I heard what you said Jax. Your business is strong. But his is stronger and bigger than yours. He can destroy you and everyone you love in no time. And still get away with it. How are you going to protect everyone. He will burn everything to the ground. So just let me go back, yeah? "

" If I can't change your mind. Give me atleast the rest of this month to come up with a plan to help you. If I don't get anything you can go back. "

I don't want to go back. Not after everything I found out now an not after he hurt me again. But I can't tell Jax that and I can't put anyone in danger so I just said. " Fine, but I'm phoning him tomorrow to tell him I will be back at the end of the month"

Letting his head falling Jax just mumbled okay and pulled out his phone. He walked out the front door already working on a solution to help me.
