"Lucius, Cecilia, and Kieran brought you up as a future king. Have you ever thought it wasn't to keep the place for me but to rule?"
It has been two days, but Lucius couldn't forget his sister's words from the dinner.
Until now his goals were always clear. He respected Cecilia and Kieran, they were the only parents he had, they gave him purpose, family, power, education, and care.
He took care of his two brothers and always knew about the long-lost biological daughter of his parents who they were looking for.
He always thought that he was educated to help her in the future and he was planning to abide by it. Even if she was useless he was planning to help her and after finding out about her achievements he thought she would want power and was suitable to rule after he met her and seeing the condition she was in, Lucius planned to cure her and help her keep the throne. He got rid of all her opposition and enemies, but after she healed she changed his views.
He truly came to care about her and decided to be loyal to her, but she didn't want power instead she gave everything to him.
He felt her care for himself and his brothers. She understood them well.
Lucius felt lost at her words and actions and the goal that has always been clear, shuttered. He didn't know what to do. For the first time he had to decide what he wanted, did he want to be the king?
Silas and Julian couldn't help worrying about their brother. This was the first time that the always put together and organized brother was so lost and didn't know what to do. they were also surprised at Thana's actions
Julian as the one in charge of the military and Silas as the person in charge of foreign relations with other planes have also always thought the same way as their brother and were ready for the true ruler's return, but never thought she would reject the throne.
The trio sat in the study all lost in their thoughts. No one knew what they talked about at the dinner except them, but everyone at the place felt the tension these last two days.
The only person who still acted as if nothing was Thana as she explored the castle with relish.
As she enjoyed her launch in the garden, Linda who was temporarily assigned as her helper, couldn't help sigh at her cheerfulness,
"Linda."
"Yes, your majesty."
"Where are my brothers right now?"
"They are in the royal study, your majesty."
"Lead the way."
"Ah?" looking at Thana's serious expression Linda quickly masked her surprise, "Yes, your majesty."
"knock...knock"
After knocking on the door a couple of times Linda heard no response from inside and thought that maybe the king and the princes were not there, but before he explained it to Thana, the latter just pushed the door and walked in.
Before she could reach the door was closed in front of her eyes.
The trio in the room finally felt that someone came inside and when they looked up in anger for being disturbed they were met with Thana's bright smile.
"Hmm? You guys look like you just met your mortal enemy. I didn't know what I said two days ago would affect you so much." She said jokingly.
"S...Sorry." The trio couldn't help but apologize.
"No worries." Sais Thana "Lucius, Are you still worried about what I said?"
Lucius didn't answer, but he looked troubled.
"I didn't say it so you would worry. Don't overthink this. Just go with your heart. If you like being the king then be one, if not you are not responsible to carry that burden."
"But it's their legacy." Finally, Lucius couldn't hold back and spoke his mind.
"You're wrong. The throne isn't their legacy, we are. So, don't for one second think that you owe anyone anything."
Lucius didn't know what to say and Thana couldn't help sighing with helplessness.
"I won't pressure you to make any decisions, but please tell me your answer before the banquet in 3 days." Said Thana.
"Hmm."
"I almost forgot, Thana, you still have to choose your helpers before the banquet.' Said Silas.
"When?"
"Now."
Julian and Silas brought Thana to a large hall full of people in different attires. Thana didn't know any of them except a tall man with light gray hair and blood-red eyes.
"Ash, you are here too?"
"Hello, your majesty."
"Ash was your designated guard before your birth so, as tradition, he will be one of your seven guards." Said Silas.
After exchanging greetings with Ash, Thana looked at other people in the room. They were all wearing attires that could be categorized into six different groups.
"So, where do we start first?" Asked Thana.
"You will need a personal maid," said Silas, and the group of young women as young as 16 and as old as 21 came to the front.
Right away Thana knew they weren't just some normal maids and she started seriously observing them.
She wasn't in the need of helpers, but if her brothers were going to send some capable people to her she wasn't going to reject them.
Her choice was an 18-year-old girl, Sonia. She had a small build and looked weaker than others, but Thana knew that was just an appearance.
Sonia had brown hair in a ponytail and cute facial features, she also had beautiful bloody red eyes that were an indication that she was a vampire.
Different from Lucius and Thana who had electric blue eyes to indicate their vampire royal bloodline.
Next Thana chose her other helpers that varied in professions as well as their races.
Both Silas and Julian were surprised at some of her choices but they didn't voice anything out.
Her new helpers signed a blood loyalty contract and she became their new master who controlled their lives with a single thought.
