Premonition

She flew up at the blur coming and flipped dropping on her knee and the ball of her palm, she tried to see but the flashes kept coming and they hit her.

Sliding to the end, it lurched and she fell over dodging it then slammed a fist on its leg, shaking her head.

She couldn't predict their next move and kept getting hit. "This isn't funny." She groaned and crawled.

"Okay, keep it together" She trembled at the kick to her gut and grunted at the claw slashing through her jacket to her side.

'Finish her!'

She rolled over, her temper sparked as it raised a hand over her.

"Darcy!" Emma screamed as Pooch hopped over obliterating the others.

Zeke jumped down finishing off the others and picked her up.

She shrugged his arm off "I'm fine!"

The visions kept coming and her head was spinning. Her eyes felt like a fork was trying to poke them out of their sockets.

...

Shadow came outside as they camped together by the broken spaceship. Pooch rested.

The fire that Astro made burned into the night and the stars were visible from the thick dark canopies.

Darcy sat still facing the tree while Nova scanned her. "I thought this would be over, it's getting worse."

"What if it did get better?" He said as his phone stopped showing her DNA profile.

She looked up then her eyes fell on the ground again, picking up a handful. "How? I can barely see anything. Astro was right, you shouldn't trust me" She sat up. "I'm endangering the whole group" She had an impulse to look back and see how they were doing but she swivelled back looking at the ground.

"What are you suggesting?"

She sighed clenching her fists on her thighs.

"Anyway. What were you doing these couple of years?"

He clutched his arms "Gathering data about Earth observances"

"Sounds funny when you say it like that" She raised an eyebrow.

He chuckled. "It's a large percentage of function interpreting them. I've been travelling the world excessively and yet, there's more to see."

He watched two squirrels in one sitting staying still till one jumped at the other chasing it away. They scurried through the dried leaves till they disappeared.

"I have a thought" He said intuitively. "What if_"

She gasped at the stream of water pouring down her head and she growled, covering herself. Her skin simmered.

"What gives?"

"Just checking" He said grinning, he was taking the fun in taunting her.

"You need to be prudent about the way you exploit people for amusement"

"It's called a prank" Astro rolled his eyes,

Darcy bellowed at her skin steaming up, she knelt and clutched them sobbing.

"It's not a prank, it's an experiment." Astro confessed blandly tossing the cup away.

"The Infernals are so caught up in their strengths that they're forgetful about their weakness. Water, it burns their skin."

"Ugh! I am not an Infernal!" She groaned while Emma covered her with a blanket.

"Kinda makes me wonder about upkeep" Zeke touched his stomach.

"It's that easy. No wonder none survived the explosions at sea" Nova touched his chin. "It all comes together"

She flicked energy and it covered Astro's eyes. "You're not the only one who can induce blindness"

"Calm down"

"I am calm, I just need to stop...seeing these things ugh!" She tossed off the blanket.

"Hold on, I have a new outfit for you" She said leading her to old spaceship that was downturned again to get her bag.

Darcy took it "Thanks" As soon as she put it in her view, it was a suit with red tracks.

"This is an B-Squad uniform, why would you give me this?"

She touched the badge and it switched colors.

"It's not so snug by the way" She said smiling.

"Why do you keep looking down like that? Hold your head up" She prodded and Darcy closed her eyes.

"No"

"Why not?"

"I'm...scared, hear me out, I don't want anyone to be at risk because of me"

"Is it Astro? Don't let him walk all over you" She closed her fists.

Darcy looked up "Ha! Never."

She turned away again pacing about quickly before things got more awkward again.

She turned sad "Then what is it?"

"I can't let this thing get between us. I keep having these thoughts about it and I feel like Zandax is watching us, through me"

Emma winced at her choice of words

"Okay those are two things"

"Yes, the first one, I think I can see whatever the mutants see including Pooch when he recognized Nova, his was expressive and it was mutual, maybe it's because I wanted to see it, with unclouded eyes and judgment.

The others are flashes I can't get over"

She covered her eyes.

Emma sat back on what looked like a cocoon swinging mildly in the silence, something bubbled up and made her stop.

"Maybe you need to lose yourself in those visions, take advantage of it. Like a superpower"

She hopped out.

"I think that's how you knew they were moving toward us"

She blinked stunned at the realization, she never really tapped into another infernal's vision on purpose then she closed her eyes, they bulged around her eyelids and she giggled at Zeke leaning back on his side.

"Who's the best mutant dog ever?" He reached up to pat his head and Pooch's eyes closed.

She held Emma's hand and teleported outside, in front of him, they laughed and he jerked up screaming.

"Having a little bonding time, Zeke?"

"You two are just jealous" His face steamed.

Emma braced her hands on her hips "Right"

"I reckon Pooch makes the most out of any company and overpowers his threatening fear of heights." Nova said. "Thanks to Darcy's supervision"

Darcy looked upset and Emma nudged her, Darcy gave her a knowing look.

"The second one,"

They turned serious "I saw these two...warheads coming towards earth from space"

"I don't believe any warhead would have enough velocity to get towards earth from outer space" Zeke mentioned.

She thought long and hard about it. "It's not necessarily a warhead and a ship was hauling them, like the one you destroyed"

She turned to Nova and he tensed.

"Star Destroyers. There were two?" He asked.

"Yes, they're narrow and have these red and orange outlets in the centre and a sharp end" She cupped her hands together.

"You mean like that?" Astro pointed at the giant piece of equipment floating through the night sky and they stopped as the wind intensified. Watching it drift over them to another direction.

"Oh crap"
