After about a month I had an opportunity to get a game plan going. I heard my parents talking about my mom going out with some friends the next day and dad would be watching me by himself. Poor Tom didn't get a wink of sleep that night. He was worn out and sitting in a chair in the living room and when he was finally nodding off, I stood. I has been standing in my crib at night, getting used to my balance in this little body. I knew I was stronger and much more advanced then a baby my age. But, I had no idea about the appropriate ages to do things at. I was fine with being a genius, but I didn't want to be taken and examined, because of standing and walking at one month. I knew this was the Marvel universe and that would raise some flags.
I had noticed that my dad had been reading books about child-raising and I wanted to get my hands on them. The last time I saw him reading them was in the kitchen, I slowly waddled my way there. I was about a half a meter tall but I had terrible balance, my little muscles were not exactly ready for this trip. I could see the lip of the book on the edge of the table, all I had to do was climb.
Being as silent as possible, I hooked my hands on the chair that my dad usually sits at. Knowing from my time in the crib pulling myself to standing position, I had enough grip strength to throw my little leg up. Rolling my pudgy little body onto the chair's seat, I stayed perfectly silent and heard my dad's soft regular breathing from the next room. 'Enhanced senses for the win.' Standing up again I pull the book towards me slightly and devour the knowledge within.
I instantly come up with a plan to show that I am standing at 5 months, crawling at 6, and finally walking at 7 months old. 'I have never read anywhere near that fast before' I thought with a grin. 'I basically absorbed the entire contents of that book in under 5 minutes. I feel like I could rewrite it too, Parker/Stark combo is lit!' Gingerly and quietly I climb down to the kitchen floor.
'I think dad needs a bit more sleep, I should see if I can find anymore books.' Since I'm in the kitchen I start with the cookbook I can see on the counter. 'Good cooking is a reincarnated Trope that I would like to repeat.' Thinking about the incredible sushi I could have, I pull out drawers on the cabinets into make shift stairs. Balancing my way up im reminded of the multitude of obstacle courses I have been through, especially the military ones.
After reaching the countertop and crawling my way over to the cookbooks, I begin to flip through them at a rapid pace. 'I wonder if I will like onions in this life, I couldn't stand them before.' After being disappointed that the cook books were based off traditional English fare AKA gross stuff, I move on to look at the other things I could get in to. On the counter near me I can see the keys to the Cutlass. 'Nah, I wouldn't be able to reach the pedals or see over the dash.'
Climbing down and pushing the drawers back in quietly, I make my way back to the living room. Seeing dad with his chin to his chest, I walk over to the small cabinet that has the old school fat tv on it rabbit ears and all. Opening the cabinet I see a small collection of VHS tapes. 'Dad must have had more money than I thought or he did some magic to get the good stuff. He's got M.A.S.H. and Mad Max, I feel like him and I would really get along if we get the chance.' I think sadly 'I know Voldemort won't let them live and I won't stand a chance even as enhanced as I am.'
Feeling bad and not in the mood to snoop anymore I crawl over to my dad and lay down on my back and whine for him to pick me up. "Huh!" My dad startles awake and has his wand in his hand before even I could notice. "Oh Artie, I must have dozed off there." He picks me up wand still in his hand, and I grab it with a jolt of speed I wasn't sure I was capable of yet. "Woah there Artie!" he states trying to pull his wand away without hurting me.
'Lumos, lumos, lumos, LUMOS!' I think desperately wanting magic to happen so bad i could taste it while visualizing a bright light and holding tight to the wand
And then it happens and joy soars through my heart! 'I HAVE MAGIC' letting go of the wand and giggling like a badass wizard baby.
