Hawaii

Hiding my father's wand was easier than I expected. Tucking it behind me or to my side just made it look like I was a fidgety kid. After my grandmother arrived it was simple to put it in her bag. After nearly 24 hours of traveling in near silence, I could see the islands I would call home for the next 9 years.

At the airport we were greeted by a surprisingly familiar person. I was face to tiny face with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. He hugged grandmother consolingly and took me from her. "So this is my little tama a le uso. He is a handsome one - look at those blue eyes. Don't worry little one, Uncle D.D. will teach you how to break the ladies' hearts." He rubbed my hair and said "I am sorry I couldn't protect my uso or tuafafine, I tried to tell him even with no magic I would have his back." The Rock was teary eyed when grandma patted his back. Taking her suit case with one hand and me with the other he said "Let's go home."

We arrived at a big traditional house at Pololū Valley Lookout on the north side of the big island. I was introduced to a multitude of extended family that all seemed to live there or close by. Hearing conversation around I learned many things about my father's family. I found out he was Samoan and Māori on his mother's side and native Hawaiian on his dad's. When the time for bed came that first night my grandmother, whose name I found out was Tala, put me in my father's old room. She sat on the edge of my bed and tucked me in. She looked around the room with tears in her eyes "I can't believe he is gone... We gonna have a paddle out for him in a few days."

After the paddle out for my parents, where they spread their ashes in the ocean. My uncle talked about my parents love, tenacity, and fighting spirit. My uncle took me to the bluffs near our home and we looked out over the ocean. We were both quiet and I began thinking about my past life.

Shame and guilt were rolling through me as I watched the waves come in. I knew what happened couldn't be changed now. I've had my struggles with wishing to change the past after losing friends in Afghanistan. I had no desire to bring back the dead especially after knowing what was waiting for such kind and loving people. I said a prayer of apology and thanks to Poseidon. Looking to Uncle Rock and seeing the tears brewing in his eyes I got up from where we were sitting and hugged his side. "Lets go home kuu keiki." He said just like dad used too.

Life carried on, my grandmother was a Saint in my eyes, and she looked like Lori Pelenise Tuisano. She was never forceful with me, especially when she realized how smart I was. Part of my Atlantean blessing was language skills and I picked up on all four of the languages spoken commonly in the home. A few members of the extended family almost only spoke in Samoan, a few only Hawaiian, and others Māori or Rapa Nui. I demonstrated my ability with English and further developed my German to the point of fluency. Impressed with my language skills my grandmother found friends who spoke French, Spanish, and Russian and had those taught to me as well. I made friends with a local Japanese boy named Ren and his parents helped me with learning that language. My grandmother called me her "Tagata o le Lalolagi" which ment man of the world. My heightened intelligence on top of Aquaman's natural gift for language made learning so easy. I remembered in the movie he spoke Russian, Norwegen, Māori and English fluently.

When I was 5 I told Uncle D.D. I would start calling him Pōhaku. I explained that he replaced his brain with muscles and they are all made of rock. He laughed and said Pōhaku: I like it. He then told all his boys and cousins in the chop shop that they had to call him 'The Rock' now

I didn't waste my other gifts and developed my marine telepathy the breakthrough had started not by projecting my thoughts but from trying to know how they felt. Empathy was the gateway to that power, and through it i found how to read the minds of sea creatures the smarter they were the easier it was to communicate but the harder it was to command them. I got to know the frequent visitors to the island. Dolphins were fun, if a little creepy with their intelligence, sea turtles were super laid-back and slow thinkers, and I quickly got over my PTSD of sharks. The whales that migrated through were some of my favorites. They covered so much area when they swam they were able to tell me about sunken ships making me able to find a fair amount of pirate booty.

I stayed in my father's old room in the house. Inside it was a bed, a night stand, a desk, closet, and bookcase. The bookcase held every textbook from his time in Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.  I found that he was sorted into the house of Wampus. I devoured the books within setting my foundation in magic early. It was not as easy as I would have liked considering spell theory was not very indepth. I had read enough fan fictions to have plenty of methods to better approach magic usage.

With my ability to swim at Mach 5 I would travel to deserted Islands and practice my magic where there was no fear of being caught. I learned that the trace was put on wands, not people, so I had no fear of minor Magic causing trouble. I swam to the trash island in the middle of the pacific, there I practiced the vanishing spell until I had it mastered. I found I had absolutely no difficulty in casting spells underwater. I could speak clearly with no issues and my spells seemed to not be hindered by the water at all. One thing I did not mess with was dark magic, there were two main reasons for this. The largest of which was that dark magic was what seemed to be a sentient force in this universe.

Through extensive meditation I developed my own occlumency. I developed my system based off of the myriad of fan fictions I had read. The trick with my method is that I let the person seeking entry in and drown their avatar in my mind essentially waterboarding the legilimens foolish enough to come in. Saying 'come on in the water is fine'.

I developed my wandless magic and found that I could only use it for minor telekinesis and simple spells. I was shocked with the difficulty compared to using a wand, it was like trying to push an elephant where you wanted to to go while balancing it on a rubber ball. Precision was not viable outside of wand magic or minor telekinesis. Too many times I had just exploded what I was trying to transfigure. It made sense to me why wand magic became so popular. I had made sure I could cast almost every cleaning spell wandlessly. There was no way I would be the stinky fish boy. My hydrokinesis took care of drying off and I could use water to style my hair. I was extremely careful with my DNA, I would scourgify everything and made sure to burn my hair when I cut it.

My Atlantean physiology was incredible. At 6 years old I was able to dunk on Uncle Rock. When he asked me how I did that I just jumped straight on to the roof of the house and laughed at his flabbergasted face. I was taller then other kids my age and my muscle density was intense. I could lift more weight than Uncle Rock, much to his chagrin. After a few years I realized that my skin became much harder and I no longer could pierce my flesh with normal means. I didn't hide my improved abilities from my family - my uncle and grandma assumed it had to do with my magic. When we would go surfing I showed my super human dexterity and control of water always ensuring perfect waves and everyone's safety I was the 'laki laki' lucky charm.

I would often sit by the cliffs near our house, looking out over the open ocean planning for the future and studying. Tech really didn't seem to work well around wizard magic, and runes did not just conveniently bypass that problem. So instead of making tech work with magic I tried to replicate the effects through enchanting. While I could use tech and studied it extensively i could not use magic around it nor could I bring it to a place where magic had been used extensively. It made me feel good that I could probably burn out Tony's suit with a single spell and killing Ultron would be a cake walk for me not that I would let him be made.

Enchanting was a mix of arthamancy and runes to create spell effects. It was basically reality-based coding, with math practically unexplainable to no-majs. I did try to explain but there is a reason no one argued about calling uncle D.D. "The Rock". He wasn't completely without talents he taught me how to play the ukulele and had a surprisingly great singing voice. He was also an excellent driver and brawler with reflexes to match my dad. After I had quickly picked up the ukulele he had some cousins teach me their instruments I learned to play the guitar, piano and drums. After finding no Jack Johnson in this reality I may have copyrighted a few songs.

I created a mirror of remote viewing so I could support my hobby and scout for ship wreaks. I also used it to scout out some places of interest. Uncle Rock helped me whenever the problem was of salvage rather than the Law of Finds. The reparo charm was exploited by us when we needed it but only off the big island. Uncle Rock would sometimes go to my island and he would workout with me in the gym I transfigured underground it was calibrated for several tons and I had runes for climate control inside the bunker gym. This was also where I did a majority of my magic so as not to kill the power in our home. My hydrokinesis was not like wizard magic, and seemed to work extremely similar to water bending in Avatar. I could change the temperature of water under my command to make it freeze or vaporize. I was just glad I didn't need to do karate to make it work. My eyes would glow an amber color when I activated my hydrokinesis so I almost always had sunglasses on to hide this effect, a convenient sticking charm kept them from falling off for no dumb reason.

That wasn't the only thing we worked on together there, my dads obsession with quidditch led to him taking a enchanting course at Ilvermorny. His books inspired me to make something that would help me with vigilante things I wanted to do. Deciding to rip off Galactus's herald I enchanted a finless shortboard surfboard with the basic broom charms. Adding a sticking charm so I could stand on it and steer I decided I needed a way to call it if I was separated from it. Using a interesting variation of the accio spell, I made a necklace that when pressed would call the board. Getting inspiration from shark tooth necklaces, I added a shrinking enchantment and attached it.

I could pull the board off my necklace and throw it infront of me. Watching it expand and hover I leaped on to it and cruised skyward flying around my practice island. The only thing I was missing now is speed. The charms used to create a broom in the book were the most basic and the board had a top speed around 100Kph, About 150 Kph short of the firebolt. Knowing Randolph Spudmore would be designing the firebolt in a few years I planned an eventual upgrade that wouldn't cost me research time.

While I had books about potions and herbology I had no access to the means to practice. I didn't want to swim to London and be seen in diagon alley until the summer of my 10th year.

The biggest progress that I made throughout all the years was always in hydrokinesis. I could sink a cruise ship with a thought on my practice island I made a mile long suspended water slide that looked like an Eastern dragon. I had it swallow up uncle Rock and not let him go until he had thrown up twice.

Tutu wasn't one to make me do something I was completely against so I didn't have to go to a school. I tested three grades higher on everything, not more than that to avoid unwanted attention. I could say I became an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics overnight just for the bragging rights to say I did it at 7 years old if Tony ever brought it up. My finances were secure with the pirate booty I had found over the years and my uncle helped me invest using my past life degree in finance and my sweet sweet future knowledge cash was rolling in. My knowledge of advanced accounting and the rules of the SEC kept my portfolio from looking like I would cash out on the same day that stocks would crash. Throughout the islands my family bought land and used it for the benefits of the locals. We made tons in tourism and even had our own nature friendly hotel resort chain. One of my dads cousins was running that and everyone in the family were part owners. When I was 9 they expanded and were doing construction on a noninvasive hotel in the Amazon.

After my tenth birthday party I had sat down with my uncle and grandma to tell them what I had planned and wanted to do.

"I want to travel for a bit before I start Hogwarts." I said pulling the bandage off quickly.
