The alpha king gazed at her making her shudder. As if the situation was good, now the tension at the entrance increased.
"I clarified that the one who will be married is the princess, but the one beside me is not her," the alpha king said, his voice calm and cold. He thought the person marrying his grandson was the princess, but he was wrong. Although he met the princess once when she was around twelve years old, he was sure the one standing a few steps away was not the princess.
Lucette was lost in her thoughts. The man tricked her and she would be married, probably.
"She is indeed not the princess," King Arius said to the other king who became furious. "She isn't the first princess but the second princess," King Arius said.
'What????'
'How can I be a princess? Why are all of them lying?
The old man from before lied and assured her she wouldn't get married and now the king too. Anger rose within her.
I'm not a toy to be played with!
"Is this a joke, King Arius?" the alpha king asked.
'Absolutely, it is,' Lucette thought, twisting her eyebrows.
King Arius walked toward Lucette. "Before the late queen died, she gave birth to a child. I thought the child died along with the queen, but I was wrong, I searched for the baby for years and found her recently," he said, staring at her.
Lucette's eyes met with the king's crimson orbs. They were like a flame full of rage and hatred. It was the most terrifying thing she ever saw. She gulped hard and retracted her gaze from the king.
'Why is he looking at me this way?'
No one talked for a while. "If it is like that, then I don't have any complaints," the alpha said. Then he spoke with King Arius.
'So it's the end.'
Her life as a maid ended, and her new life as the second princess began. Such a twist. 'Is it a good thing?' She didn't know, from onwards she would be alone.
"Let's go," the alpha king told her with a smile on his face.
Lucette eyed the palace, she didn't know if she would come here again. Living here for years, although she had not the best impression in this palace, at least she had a shelter.
Lucette walked slowly with her head down and wiped a single tear that slipped from her eye. A familiar silhouette stood far away.
'Miranda,' she whispered. Tears swelled in her eyes once again. She stepped towards Miranda, but the vampiress urged her to go as the alpha king was waiting for her.
Lucette dropped her head and walked reluctantly, staring at Miranda who held her right hand to bid her farewell while speaking to her. Although she didn't know what Miranda told her, she nodded, smiled then went out.
Lucette stepped out of the giant door and hurried in her steps to follow the Alpha king. A row of cars parked. Someone directed her to the car and hopped in. She watched as the palace got farther and farther.
'Farewell, Miranda. I will never forget your kindness.'
The only person who cared for her after her mother's death. She wished to talk to her at least for a second.
The journey to her new destination wasn't smooth at all, trapped in a small and moving space with strangers. Lucette watched the scenery from the window to suppress her anxiety.
After six hours, they reached the border. They completed the procedure and went away. The car moved away from her kingdom. Lucette's heart tightened.
'I'm alone and far away from home. From now on, I will rely on myself to survive and be someone different from the weak and hopeless maid.'
She got the princess' title and she would use it well. Besides, she had to hide her previous identity. She had a lot to do to ensure her safety.
Lucette arrived at the pack after eight hours. She got out of the car and took it as a support. Her shaky legs gave out from the sitting position for hours and her stomach grumbled in protest. As for the thought of food, Lucette remembered she vomited three times during their ride, thus she lost her appetite.
Just a few hours ago, she discovered she had motion sickness!
'Maybe I'm the first vampire to suffer from motion sickness.'
Lucette took deep breaths and eyed the house in front of her, it was huge but nothing close to the castle, but its design was more exquisite than where she used to live.
It was dark outside at 4 in the morning. A man came to welcome them, he was young, in his mid-twenty, he ran to the alpha king and talked with him, then he shifted his gaze to her.
He smiled at her and signalled to someone to guide her to her room. Lucette went to her room. Her guide didn't talk, and neither had she the energy to do that.
Lucette observed the minimalistic interior design of the house. The walls were painted in serene shades of light blue and soft grey, creating a calming atmosphere The furniture was arranged symmetrically, mostly in pairs: two vases at the entrance, two large paintings in the middle, and two smaller ones on both sides, and so on.
'It isn't beautiful. The one who did it has a bad taste. It hurt the eyes.'
Lucette thanked the woman and entered the first room on the left of the third floor. The scent of jasmine engulfed the whole room. 'They used an excellent air freshener,' she thought. The bed on the left side was large, and the pink bedding looked clean and new. A thick black curtain covered the window, and there was a white dressing table beside it. She looked down at the fluffy white and black-coloured carpet on the floor, sighing.
Lucette lay on her side in the bed, took a pillow and hugged it. She covered her face with her arm, and her whole body trembled.
