Chapter 3: Dylan

-"Why didn't you go to school today? I enrolled you to a new school, but still you were absent on the first day! Don't you have common sense! Still you're lying on your bed? I'm tired of you!" Mom is really frustrated and I see it well. But what else could I do? I wanted to go somewhere nobody knew me. I wanted to move to a completely new place and adjusted to that totally new place! Who knew there were such a common face! Why he had to tag along wherever I went! But I can't say any of these to her. Even if I say, it won't make any sense to her. She'll think of these as another excuse of mine so that I can bunk school.

Situation is really hilarious. I'm a 18-years-old-boy and looking at mom with frightened eyes because she's holding that very rice stick. Shevaie is trying to take my side cause she's thinking it's my punishment for not forcing her to complete her homework even when I was at home.

-"Dylan, try to calm down, okay? I don't think there should have been any problem with the new school. So I'll let you say your opinion but one remainder, you can't make up stories or excuses to save yourself. Don't you dare to lie. Got anything to say?"

She kept that stick aside and sent Shevaie to another room as if it's a real private issue to consult with this much privacy. I can't stop my laughter in this serious moment, but somehow I did.

-"Well....mom...."

I can't say anything. Cause I just wanted to ignore a very person whom I know very well. Also the reason behind my appeal to transfer was to move to a completely new college where neither students nor teachers know me. I don't wanna tell lies, but neither do I want to go to the same college as him!

-"Yeah? Continue. I'm all ears. You just say your problem and I'll see the rest."

Her calm voice is nothing but the calmness before a storm. No way to escape now.

-"Actually mom, I was late to wake up today. So I decided to not to go today as it'll just make a bad impression of me to the teachers."

I gave a brilliant answer, I know that. But the consequences are even more dangerous than her today's calm voice.

-"Oh! Then that was the matter! You could have said it to me earlier. Okay, no problem, I'll talk to Ms. Sherry. But make sure to be early from tomorrow."

Next day

-"Ma'am may I come in?"

-"Yeah, sure. Everyone, please pay attention. We've a new transfer student now."

Then turning to me," Please introduce yourself to the class."

I feel like it's my high school days. I used to transfer to new schools very frequently because of my unsocial behaviors, I've changed now though.

-"I'm Dylan. Dylan Gill. I hope to cooperate with you guys. Please be good to me."

I did a quick scan on the whole class, I guess he's not in my class. That's a good news up until now.

-"Okay, Dylan. Thank you. The students will be good to you no matter what. Don't worry and as quite a lot of seats are left, you may sit on any of them."

The class is really too calm as a college class. Everyone is so disciplined, so no way of him being in this class.

-"Hey, are you the new guy who came today? If you need notes, you may talk to me."

Oh my god! I never saw such a girl who's ready to share her notes with a completely new guy she never saw or talked with. I guess she's either playgirl type or interesting type.

-"Do you know me? I mean I don't know you."

-"No, I actually don't know you. And I don't have to know you as long as we're in the same class. I tried to help you as you're new and missed a lots of class lectures."

-"Ow, you're so caring, I see. What's your name?"

-"Emmaline. You may call me Emma. You're Daniel, I know that."

I tried to fake a smile but I don't know how it seemed. After talking to her, I think she is the latter one. To be a playgirl, she must needs to have to be on good terms with guy friends. So she's more like the interesting type. Whatever, I'll be rest assured to have a friend like her by my side. Yeap, I guess so.
