Chapter Thirty

After only a few hours travelling across these barren desert lands, I made a shocking discovery, one which revealed the true level of Grainger's deception. In the blank light of morning, up ahead, I could see a stretch of freeway intersecting the sandy terrain. At first, I thought I must've strayed off course, that I was now joining the freeway at a much earlier juncture than before. But that didn't prove to be the case at all. Approximately one hundred metres away, I spotted what looked like the remnants of a camp, just like the one we had previously stumbled upon.

I slammed on the brakes, threw open the door, got out and investigated.
