Chapter 70

Zevrus

The crisp winter breeze enters my nose and mouth as I inhale the morning air, snow is coming, I can smell it, and so can everyone else in the pack, since they seem to be getting ready for it.

As I stand on the porch of the main house,I notice a figure approaching me , fast, agile, and seemingly panicked, it's Grey, Cyprus' new soldier, I raise my chin as he slows to a stop infrot of me, he bends over and puts his hands on his knees trying to catch his breath.

"Grey" I say while crossing my arms, he takes a few deep breaths then straightens up, "Zevrus, alpha Cyprus sent me to get you" ,I scoff "get me? what am I a puppy? since when do we send messengers?" , Grey doesn't reply, he simply shakes his head, I feel the carelessness slip away from slowly, turning seriously I ask "is there an issue?", Grey shakes his head "Alpha did not say, he just asked me to get you, but he seemed stressed". I contemplate pushing for more info, but then decide it would be better to just go to Cyprus and get to the bottom of whatever there is.

"you can go back now, I'll be right behind you" I say to Grey as I turn around and get back inside the house. As soon as I enter I see Cedric standing by the window, his eyes towards Grey who is running back the way he came, "seems serious" he says without taking his eyes away from the window, I nod as I bend down to kiss Rain's head, she is sitting by the fire and reading a book, she looks up and smiles at me "where are you going?", I sigh and answer her as I look at Cedric "Cyprus asked for me, Grey said he doesn't know why, but he seemed stressed", Cedric nodded, but frowned, "he only asked for you?" , I shrug "well, yeah" , his frown deepens, but then he nods and shrugs "fine by me, more time with my mate". I nod and feel a knot of jealousy as I see Cedric approach her and tickle her, she laughs but complains as he plucks the book from her hands and throws it behind his back, "I got a better idea of entertaining you instead of a stupid book", she giggles and squeals as he lifts her on his shoulder and heads towards the stairs, but then he stops and looks at me from behind his shoulder "hey", I turn my head from the door "yeah?", he gives me a serious look "you better let me know when you get back", I nod, open the door and head out.

Cyprus

pasing my office back and forth, I raise my eyes to the clock hanging on the wall, where the fuck is Zevrus, and as soon as thought come to my mind, there's a sharp knock on the door, "come in", the door opens, behind it a very serious Zevrus, closing the door behind him, he strolls to my desk and stands infront of me "you called for me", I nod "yes", he tilts his head to the side "well, I'm here, what is going on?", I take breath and sigh, then I go to my char and sit in it, rubbing my forehead I say "there's a serious problem, one of the pack wolves came to me saying he caught a scent of blood-suckers", Zevrus goes rigid, he turns around to face me "blood-suckers? where? in our territory?" , I shake my head "not yet, the scent is just around our area, more precisely coming from the direction of the Amara pack's territory", Zevrus' eyes widen a little "what? the Amara pack's territory?" ,I nod, Zevrus covers his face with his hands for a second, then he lowers them to his lips, "have you contacted Alpha Xavier?" , I shook my head "no, and that's why I have called for you", Zevrus frowns for a second "what do you mean?", I stand up and walk towards the window "listen Zevrus, let's leave the Alpha thing a side for a second, I am aware that you, Cedric and Alpha Xavier are not on the best terms", Zevrus comes to stand next to me, shaking his head he says "that shit has nothing to do with what's going on, we both know that the safety of the wolf packs comes before any other issue, especially personal problems", I sigh "yes I know, but if I need to contact Alpha Xavier, I'm going to need you to go to him", Xavier stared at me for a second, then asked "is that why you did not call for Cedric?" , I lower my head and smile "Zevrus, we both know, of the two of you, you are the calmer one, you can handle situations like these without anger bursts and without fucking everything up". Zevrus looks outside the window for while, then back at me and nods, "alright, I'll go, but you need to keep in mind that sooner or later, you will have to announce the situation to everyone, and that includes Cedric", I nod "I understand, therefore I'm giving you the freedom of informing him or not informing him about the news", Zevrus nods, "I'll be leaving to the Amara pack tonight", then he walks towards the door, before leaving he turns and says "and Cyprus?" I look at him with a raised brow, he sighs "if there's someone who I wish does not know about this, that would be Rain", I smile and nod "you have my word".
