4. The Wolves are Coming!
The difficulty has been raised by a huge amount since not only was he supposed to kill 30 wolves but also the seemingly stronger alpha wolf. Noel has to rethink his plans since he was making preparations for food shortage and a basic defense plan. And with healthy villagers, he thought it was an easy task.
His original plan was to surround the village with wooden spikes and have everyone who was capable to learn how to wield wooden spears that he could make. And he could have blitzed through this tutorial with minor casualties.
Now that the difficulty has increased Noel strengthened his resolve and regained his vigor as he wasn't going to screw up his only chance to rise and protect his family this time and he was not going to lose everything again just because he was careless and naive.
Noel was serious as he calls for another meeting after lunch as he called the villagers to gather. His early task was to ask the men to get some wood logs that could be made into spears and the women to gather herbs for medicine and healing purposes.
But these alone won't suffice as according to his plan each man should be facing a single wolf and he would be free to kill them with his experience. But now with 1 man facing 2 wolves and the main alpha wolf to deal with it was going to be a lot harder but not impossible.
Noel made the preparations again as he told the villagers what they needed to do to survive and went to make some preparations on his own.
Day 6 Night Dinner Time...
Noel with a determined look on his face was ready for the wolves the next day. He looked back at the village's transformation in just 5 days. Right now there was a meter-deep trench surrounding the village filled with dried leaves and some types of black rocks.
These black rocks were a necessity as they make fire possible as it was found in a nearby ore vein that Noel found on the 2nd Day. Looking at the villagers happily eating around him made him remember the training routine that he made them go through for a few days. Now there were about 12 men and 3 women who could wield the Stone Spear.
Noel made the spear front using sharp stones to give them an edge when fighting the wolves as this would increase their success rate. There we 3 men and 2 woman who was interested in wielding the bow. The woman was 18 years old and was the daughter of Chief Hunter Mane. She was called Cana. And the other one was Hunter's wife Clara.
Noel thought them how to use the bow and made them practice till they could shoot a moving target and Cana and Clara surprised him as they could now run while shooting arrows at moving targets.
The villagers improved a lot in 5 days as now 4 people could form a 4-man team with a round shield made of wood and stone spears. Each squad had 3 melee and 1 ranged person.
As Villagers, their level's improved a lot even when just working for the village. The average level of every adult was Level 12 and Cana was Lvl 13. While her father Mane was Lvl.14. This improvement along with Noel finding a poisonous plant while looking around the forest led to smearing the weapon tips and arrow tips with poison as it could paralyze and cripple the wolves.
But the biggest improvement was Noel Himself. Although he couldn't Lvl up like the villagers do by doing tasks. He was able to level up by managing the village and hunting some boars around the outskirts of the village which solved the food shortage problem.
Noel looked towards the front as he said "Status".

During these few days, Noel wasn't idle as he trained himself like a madman as he gained bonus stats that boosted his stats way over his level and he made enough preparations to train the other villagers and arm them and himself to be prepared for what was to come.
Noel knew that even if the villagers can manage the wolves, he had to step in and deal with the Alpha Wolf alone. And he had to be fast with it as the villagers might not be able to hold out for much longer. Noel couldn't think much and knew he had to be calm and steady and take care of the alpha as soon as possible.
After eating dinner Noel although confident enough to face the wolves tomorrow. Was still worrying about whether he could finish off the Alpha Wolf in time. With everything that could be prepared for the big fight. Noel told everyone to rest well tonight as they got to fight in their best condition tomorrow.
Dawnbreak...
Noel woke up as early as he could and made sure everything was ready and the preparations were all right and the villagers were good to go. He got ready while watching vigilantly towards the edge of the village as the wolves will attack in an hour as the timer on his screen showed.
[Time Remaining: 0 Days 1 Hour]
As the Time Reached Mid Noon of 12 Hours Left Noel's instinct alerted him about the presence at the edge of the forest clearance and he picked up the rumbling of the earth as he could hear wolf howls coming from the east.
Noel Shouted" EVERYONE PREPARE FOR BATTLE. TO YOUR POSITIONS."
