A few more weeks have passed, and it's already time for Zeke and Luis to start their second year at university. The weather is quite different from what it was last time, the wind is blowing much harder, the leaves of the trees began to fall and form leaf paths over the normal paths. People don't dress the same way anymore, from shorts, T-shirts and short dresses as they were used, now everyone has switched to autumn clothes, instead of shorts they are wearing long pants, instead of t-shirts they are now wearing blouses and sweatshirts and you will not see any girl wearing a dress this rainy season.
As usual, Zeke was on his way to college ready for another busy day. However a few things have changed in Zeke's life, in the last few weeks he has been training with Yuki, and he has started to get better in close combat, unfortunately he still can't control the summoning spell but he has made some progress.
In addition to his 'special' life, his normal life began to change for the better, the director of the university, who is a good friend of Herrler, had acknowledged Zeke's efforts in the past year, and he hired a plumber to give Zeke the chance to stop working part-time at school, instead he is now working from home as a webdesigner for university websites.
Of course Zeke agreed, his income increased, his working hours shortened, Zeke now had more free time to train with Yuki, but also to spend time with Luis, who in the meantime had become his best friend (and the only one).
Once in front of the university, which has remained the same for the last few weeks, Zeke meets his good friend Luis.
"What is my best friend doing today?" said Luis.
"Not as good as you it seems"
"Oh c'mon, you just know I can't do better than you, I stay at home all day and I play video games and I don't do anything productive, how could I do better than you?"
"To be honest, I would love to stay all day and all I do is play video games, but you're right, it doesn't hurt to do something productive, from time to time."
"Do you know what would help me get through all this? A girlfrien..."
"Don't start with this again"
"O c'mon Zeke! Please help me to find a girlfriend, you have one, so you must know the secret behind it!" said Louis, begging Zeke.
"I've told you many times, my relationship with Yuki is not that kind of relationship"
"How not? Almost every time I called you out in the last few weeks, you told me you couldn't because you were already meeting with her. You spend a lot of time together in weird places doing who knows what, how could it not be that kind of relationship?"
"It's...complicated..." said Zeke, sighing "The point is, Yuki is not my girlfriend"
"Yes, yes, yes, as you say but at least tell me what to do to find a girlfriend, I tried everything, I signed up on seven different dating sites, and I made a super cool profile with everything, I wrote that I have money, I'm beautiful, I have a spacious place where we can both sit and I put a picture with some star taken from the internet." he said while showing Zeke his profile on his phone.
Zeke looked at Luis strangely and looked a bit disappointed.
"Well, you can start by deleting all those accounts, that really doesn't do you any good, and it wouldn't hurt to leave the house more often and leave the video games for later"
"Hmm, that's an idea too, but I don't really like it, outside is a terrible place, there are people outside!"
"When did you become the weeb of the series? I thought I was that" said Zeke doing a poker face. He then sighs, rubs his eyes and replied Luis.
"Look Luis, if you really want to make a girlfriend, you should start by socializing with more people and to do that you need to leave the house more often".
"I can't believe I'm the one that said that" thought Zeke.
"I have no problems socializing with people, I can do it very easily, I did it a lot while traveling through several countries" replied Luis "But..." he continued "When it comes to talking to a girl for a date, I'm starting to feel different, I'm starting to lose confidence in myself, stutter, talk nonsense, and I even had moments when I trembled with emotion...that's why I want you to help me"
"I understand what you're saying Luis, and its normal for all these things to happen to you, that doesn't make you any different from many other guy around the world."
"Does that mean you're going to help me?!" asked Luis enthusiastic.
"Luis...I really don't know, my situation with girls is not much better than yours"
Luis's expression had become more serious "Please Zeke, you're my only friend, I can only rely on you" he said as he bowed his head to Zeke.
Zeke is still hesitating. A few seconds had passed and no one said anything, an oppressive silence had fallen over the conversation between the two. In the end, it was Zeke who broke the ice. Yielding to his friend's request, Zeke offered his final answer.
"OK...I will help you"
"THANK YOU SO MUCH ZEKE!" replied Luis as he jumped to hug Zeke.
"I feel like I'm going to regret this" thought Zeke "Well, be ready, we will start tomorrow"
"Wait, why only tomorrow, why don't we start today after we finish our classes?"
"I already have plans with Yuki today" he replied while checking his phone.
"Another date? Really?" replied Luis with a bit of frustration of his face.
"I told you, it's not like this, Yuki is not my girlfriend"
"Yes, yes, yes, as you say, in the end you will recognize it, anyway, so see you tomorrow if you say you're busy today"
"Yes, see you Luis"
The two said goodbye, after which each went to the classroom. On his way to class, Zeke gets lost in his thoughts again.
"I hate having to hide things from Luis...but I can't tell him I'm friend with a demon girl who teaches me how to use magic...I have to do something about it...but...what exactly?" he thought as he sighed.
The hours passed quickly and it was time for Zeke's training with Yuki. Training that also went bad. Usually Zeke and Yuki's trainings are balanced enough, such that not to be a domain in which one of them dominates the other so that they can both improve their fighting skills. But this time was different, this time Zeke was beaten by Yuki like never before. In the end he was thrown so hard into a stone that he almost lost his consciousness, after which he fell to the ground.
"Are you here or are you still daydreaming?" she asked as she approached him.
"I'm here, I'm here...ahh that hurt quite a bit"
"It doesn't look like your mind is fully here, let's call it for today, it's clear that something happened, which keeps your attention maintained elsewhere. Would you like to tell me what happened?"
"It's...complicated..." asked Zeke.
"It's ok, we have time" she replay as she set down next to him.
Zeke remained silent for a moment.
"Huh? So you don't want to tell me?"
"It's...about Luis" he replied.
"What happened with him?"
"A lot, he desperately wants to find a girlfriend, because he can't stand being alone every time I can't go out with him"
"Ok, and...Why you? Can't he do it alone?"
"I don't know, the idea in his mind is that because I already have a girlfriend, with whom I spend most of my free time, I must know the secret behind a girl"
"Wait, do you have a girlfriend? Why didn't I know?" she asked surprised.
Zeke said nothing, just looked at her with a poker face implying what he already had to say. After few moments, Yuki caught on what it was about, and not much after that she imitated a chameleon, changing her entire color to a bright red, the color of a rose.
"A...A...A...And didn't you tell him anything about this?" she replied stutteringly.
"I told him, but he still doesn't believe me, he still thinks I'm lying and I'm just too shy to admit it yet. The fact that I can't tell him why only the two of us meet in weird places doesn't help either. And I don't know what to do...I already told him that I'm going to help him, but I don't feel like I'm the right person for the job"
"Why do you think that?"
"I don't know, it's just...I really want to help Luis, and I really want him to find a girlfriend, but I feel like I can do almost nothing in this whole equation"
"I see...you just want your friend to be happy after all, don't you?"
"Of course I want that, that's why I want to do my best and give him the best advice. I want my relationship with Luis to be closer, considering he's the first friend I've had in many years...and as I said, the fact that I can't tell him anything about magic, Hals, Hell, or about you, it doesn't help at all"
"I understand what you say, but you know you can't do that, remember that as few people as possible need to know what is happening here, we can't risk making innocent people the target of Hals"
"Yes...I know...That's why I will try to help him with the old methods" said Zeke as he bows his head to the ground.
"Well, that's what you should do, I wish both of you the best luck, maybe you will find a girlfriend too, but I doubt you'll attract anything with your passive attitude." she replied cocky as she gets to her feet.
"That won't happen, if I made a girlfriend, you'd be left alone" replied Zeke cockier to shut her up.
"Huh?! And what if I made a boyfriend first" she replied irritably.
"You're not going to do it, if I were to compare you with Luis, you would need more help than him when it comes to such things, plus remember that you're mostly weird to the average person."
"What do you mean weird?"
"Quite simply, for example, we can behave normally with each other because we mostly know everything about each other. But if you were to make a boyfriend on earth who doesn't know anything about magic, Hell, Hals, and stuff like that, how would you explain everything to him without getting him in trouble? You said it yourself, we can't afford to put innocent people in this"
Yuki is clearly frustrated by Zeke's words. She clenched her fist in rage and refrained from screaming.
"You know I'm right, that's why you're frustrated now, but rest assured, you don't have to say anything, if I were you I'd probably be frustrated too" said Zeke as he gets to his feet and puts his hand on Yuki's shoulder.
"I really hate you when you do that" she replied as she calmed down a bit.
"You would have done the same if you were me, so let's say we're even"
Yuki simply chuckled hearing Zeke's words.
"Yes...you're right, I would be a hypocrite to say that this is not the case, but still..." she said as she took a short break.
"Keep in mind that you don't know everything about me..."
"The past is past, you don't know everything about me either, but that doesn't stop us from moving on" replied Zeke.
She remained silent for few seconds. She was trully captivated by what Zeke said.
"You're right" and replied in the end laughing.
"Now...the problem still remain Luis..." said Zeke.
"You mean, your problem, I'm not going to help you with this"
"I realized that...but still if you decide to do it, you know where to find me"
"You know what I think about such things, your emotions, as a race, are simply just too much for a demon to understand all of them"
Zeke remained silent. After a few moments of thinking harder about what he wanted to say, he asked Yuki.
"Are you sure that's the case and don't you look at the situation from the wrong point of view?"
"Of course I'm sure, why do you ask?"
"Well, in the place where I grew up there was an old man who was always alone, but he had a few words that everyone in the village knew. One of them sounds like that 'Show me who your friends are so I can show you who you are' ".
"What does that mean?" she asked confused.
"It's an old saying I used to hear quite often, it refers to the fact that people take over the habits of other people with whom they spend most of their time, and I thought that you are no exception. If you spend a lot of time between humans, you'll start to behave like one"
"You humans sure have weird methods to understand the things around you"
"This is what modern science is based on, the explanation of the things around us"
"I see...I don't dislike the idea to be honest, but I know I won't do it...let's not forget that after all the Hals are defeated, I will not remain on Earth"
"What do you mean you're not staying here?" asked Zeke.
"I have some...unfinished business at home..."
"I see...however, it's not like all Hals will suddenly disappear tomorrow, so I say enjoy the time you spend here as long as you can"
"Right now, I can't, we have to train every day, keep that in mind"
Zeke chuckled.
"Huh? What did you find so funny"
"Nothing, nothing, we'll do as you say"
"I don't want to remember you the day you called me to train, just to have 'date' and apologize" he thought "Yuki...you understand human emotions more than you think...but I'll let you believe what you want for the moment"
"We should start moving, it's already late" said Yuki.
"Not now" replied Zeke smiling "Not until I get my revenge"
"You really are a competitive one..." she replied as she sighed "But I'm not complaining, show me what you've got"
The two started fighting again, and just like last time, neither of them noticed how fast the time went, and it was already morning and Zeke had classes in about an hour.
Once in college, Zeke started his day as normal as any other day. The courses were just as boring as ever, instead, after they were finished, Zeke met with Luis to implement the plan 'Help Luis find a girlfriend' (name invented by Luis).
"Okay, so what do we start with" asked Luis "Huh? HEY ZEKE, ARE YOU HERE?" he then screamed.
Zeke was sleeping on his feet, but Luis's scream woke him up.
"I'M HERE, I'M HERE!" he replied in a hurry.
"Are you ok Zeke? You're not looking good at all"
"I'm just really tired, that's all...I had a white night again"
"Again? Are you saying she came to your place again?"
"She? Ah, you mean Yuki, no, no, no we were outside all the night"
Luis made a strange face at Zeke. He kept his eyes almost closed as he stared at him.
"You don't have to look at me like that you know..." said Zeke.
"Yeah...as you say..."
"Ok, that doesn't matter now, what matters is what you're going to do. First things first, you must start with an introduction. Let's say you go now and want to invite a girl to a date, do you have any idea what you're going to tell her?"
"Of course, I'm going to tell that I want to go on a date with her"
"Okay, how are you going to do that?"
"What do you mean?"
"You can't just go to a girl and tell her you want to go out, you have to have a little 'history' with her."
"I don't understand" said Luis confused.
"You have to make her want to go out with you first, and how are you going to do that? very simple, start a normal discussion with her, to which you add a joke from time to time, during this time you can find out the things she likes and talk about it. After that you talk about the things you like, and if it happen to both of you like the same things, jackpot, her interest in you has increased even more"
Luis stared at Zeke with his mouth open, amazed at everything he said.
"You really know much about girls, Zeke. You must have had many other girlfriends before Yuki, that's probably what you did with her too"
"I told you, Yuki's not my girlfriend"
"If you still insist, I will leave it to be the way you want, so? Where do we start?"
"We have a few options, first we can go to a clothing store, second we can go to a slipper store, which is all about clothes, or third, you can try your luck and go to a library, but I don't really think this is going to work"
"Hmm, I think it's a good idea to start from the clothing store"
"I was thinking the same thing, this is usually where most girls gather"
After this discussion, the two went to the mall. The mall in Paxton was pretty well organized. Its shape was circular, and in the center were five corridors where you could take it, each with many different types of shops on both sides. Once you enter the main entrance, you are on corridor A.
As I said, on both sides, on the left and on the right there are many shops of all kinds. Once you exit Corridor A, you reach the center of the mall, which is a large circular room, where the road splits into four other corridors, from B to E.
Corridor B was the one where everything related to clothes, from T-shirts, dresses, slippers, socks, whatever you wanted, could be found on Corridor B.
Once in front of one of the most popular fashion stores, Zeke took Luis aside to recap what he had to do.
"Ok so remember, start a normal conversation, nothing too sophisticated, then try to keep the conversation alive by asking her things about her, and if everything is good adding a joke from time to time is a good idea. After that you pray for the best result"
"Ok, I'll do my best"
"May Gods be by your side Luis"
Zeke sat down on a nearby bench overlooking the store, so he could watch Luis, to see how he was doing. Meanwhile, Luis enters the battlefield. It was exactly as Zeke said, the discrepancy between the girls and the boys in the store was huge, about one boy for ten girls, and that boy too, he was probably being forcibly pulled by his girlfriend into the store.
Luis swallowed. He turned to Zeke, who was still on that bench. Zeke gave him a like sign to encourage him to enter the store. Luis nodded and walked into the store. There were about twenty girls in the store and about two boys. Surely Luis could find someone to talk to.
He glanced around looking for someone who might be interested.
"Can I help you with something?" a voice had said.
"Huh?" Luis turned his head to his left again. Next to him sat a girl with dark skin, in a light green T-shirt and a red cap with the store logo on it. She repeated again.
"Can I help you with something?"
"Oh yes, thank you, I would like to know where I can find..."
Luis was silent for a second as he looked around.
"T-shirts! Yes, that's what I'm looking for, T-shirts!"
The girl looked much disoriented by Luis's words.
"Well" she said with a big accent to 'l', "As you may have seen, looking around the store, the T-shirts are right here" she said as she pointed to a shelf just to Luis's right.
"Oh, right, thank you"
"Well no problem, if you still have question you can ask any other employee, I'm glad I was able to help you" she said as she returned to leave.
"Wait!" said loud Luis.
"Before you leave, I have one last question"
"Sure, no problem, you can ask me anything, that's my role, to help clients"
"Do you know what you call a can opener that doesn't work?" he asked.
The girl looked more confused than ever, but still she did Luis's game.
"No" she replied with a big accent on 'o'.
"It's called a can't opener" replied Luis.
The girl looked at Luis emotionless, she was still confused.
"Sorry, what did you just said?" she asked.
"It was a joke, it was meant to make you laughed"
"Yeah...it didn't work out as well as you can see...moreover, I wasted precious time in which I should have worked"
"You did not like it?"
"Look, you should get out of here and stop wasting people's time, before I decide to call security"
"Bu...But"
The girl pulls out her phone and starts dialing.
"The last warning"
"Ok, ok I will leave"
Luis leaves the store in shame, returns from the battle, completely defeated by the enemy forces, to Zeke who was still waiting on the front bench of the store.
"So? how was it?" he asked
"Let's go to the next shop...I don't think I'll go into another clothing store anytime soon..."
"Huh? Why? What happened?"
"I'll tell you later, let's just get out of here"
Once they left the front of the clothing store, a few stores away, on the opposite side, was the shoe store. In this store, the crowd was far more balanced, when it comes to the number of girls. There were about thirty people in the whole store, sixteen of whom appeared to be girls and the rest of four are boys.
"Do you think I'll be successful here" asked Luis.
"This depends on you" replied Zeke.
After that, Zeke put his hands on Luis's shoulders, looked him straight in the eyes, and then told him the following.
"Listen here Luis, you need to behave as natural as you can, you don't need to force a joke into a conversation that is already dead, it's pointless, instead try to say something funny while you're talking to a girl, not after the conversation is already dead, try to behave as natural as you can, did you understand?"
"Yes, I understand"
"Good, then well luck soldier, you can do this" he replied as he patted Luis on the back.
Luis nodded, and just like the first time he entered the store, only this time with less emotion, but with his pride a bit broken, Luis glanced around to get an idea of what he was dealing with.
The girls in the store were divided into several groups, four of them had another boy next to them who was probably their boyfriend, so that leaves Luis with twelve more options from the start. The other six girls were all in a group and it was difficult for Luis to talk to all six at once, so that left him with six options in the end.
However, what caught Luis's eye was a girl walking alone among the shoe racks.
Her clothing was quite unsophisticated, some simple gray jeans, with a jacket that seemed to be made of the same material, over the black blouse. Her hair was golden, over which she wore a brown hat.
[Ok, this is my chance, I can do this] he thought.
Luis took a deep breath and walked toward the girl. Once he reaches her, he started the conversation with a basic greeting.
"Hey" he said.
"Hey"
"I'm Luis, I'm glad that I can meet you here"
The girl looked a bit confused, but she doesn't look like she had a problem with a stranger that is trying to strike up a conversation with her.
"Well, hello Luis, I'm Elora, I'm glad that I can meet you too"
After this, a moment of silence is left between the two. Remembering what Zeke told him, Luis breaks the ice first and continues the conversation.
"And, do you come here often?"
"Not quite, this is my second time coming here, I don't usually spend my time in such places, but you Luis? Do you come here often?"
"No, not really, I came here today because I have something important to do"
"Oh, that's nice" she replied.
Another moment of silence is left on the conversation. And again Luis was the one that broke it.
"Well, Elora, do you like philosophy?"
The girl hesitated a little to answer because of the uncertainty she had in her answer.
"I don't really know, I mean, I clearly don't hate it, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't appeal to me so much as to say I like it, do you know what I mean?"
"Yes, I understand..." said Luis in a lower tone.
"But I really like history, and even if I'm not passionate about philosophy, I know something about the great philosophers and writers"
"Really? That's awesome. In that case, do you know who the most famous footwear philosopher is?"
"Hmm, I don't know, in ancient times most of the world wore shoes very different from what we have now, but I don't know that philosophers can do anything different from other people. I don't know, who it is?"
"Sockrates" he replied.
Silence is left over this conversation again. This time, the one that broke the ice was Elora.
"Should this have been a joke?"
"Yes, why did you asked? Wasn't so funny?"
"I don't want to hurt your feelings, but no, it wasn't funny"
"Oh...I'm sorry then..."
A final awkward silence intervened in the conversation between the two.
"I should go, I was glad to meet you Luis anyway"
"Yes...It was a pleasure for me too"
The girl then leave. Luis sighs and looks around to see who else he can talk to.
When he looked better, Luis noticed that the girls who were alone had left the store, and now only those accompanied by someone else were left. Luis was defeated twice in a row. He leaves the store in shame and returns to Zeke.
"So? How was this time?" asked Zeke.
"How do you think it was?" replied Luis. he looked like he was just hit by a truck, or struck by a lightning, without any other willingness to live.
"As bad as the first one?"
Luis remained a few seconds silent.
"You know..." he replied at some point.
"Sometimes I think that not everyone is bade to have another half in this world, what do you think about this Zeke?"
"Well, I don't really know what to answer, but about one thing I'm sure" he said as he approached Luis. he put his hand on Luis's shoulder and told him.
"Nobody is born to die alone Luis, so I'm sure somewhere in this world there is someone that is waiting for you, neither me nor you know when this will happened, but I'm sure at some point will happen"
"Zeke...that's a very nice thing for you to say"
"Luis, don't let yourself to be defeated by a few failures. Every time you fall, get up and try again, even if you know you will fall again, get up and keep going, because in the end you will succeed, I'm sure of it, if not today, tomorrow, if not tomorrow, in two days, if even then you will not succeed, I will come with you and in the third day I will help you, because in the end I know for sure that you will succeed"
Luis remained silent, his dead man face start to change, a little smile appeared on his face, his small eyes became a bit larger and his mood seemed to change too.
"Zeke....Thank you...that you've come with me today, and for what you said earlier"
"It's ok Luis, c'mon, let me treat you with a meal to cheer you up"
"Well, be sure I will not refuse this offer" he replied as he chuckled.
The two walk around until they decide to leave the mall to find a quieter place where they could eat. A few streets from the mall, the two found a family restaurant, which did not appear to be very large or very crowded, so the two decided to stop there to eat.
As the two thought, the place was not very popular, it was a bit quiet inside, so the two sat at the farthest table of the exit, so as not to be disturbed by the sound of cars passing by the restaurant.
After choosing a place to stay, Zeke tells Luis that he needs to go to the bathroom, and to order something for him too.
After Zeke leaves, a person comes to take Luis' command. She was a relatively tall girl, about a hundred and seventy centimeters tall, who wore a kitchen apron over some clothes that looked like house clothes. Her hair was a beautiful chestnut color that reflected the light coming in the windows and made it look like it was made of gold. She kept her hair in an adorable ponytail, and wore a crestless cap on her head. When she approached Luis, she asked him.
"Only you? Looks like someone up there isn't on your side today"
"Don't say it twice" he replied giggling.
"This day couldn't have gone worse than it already has...the only good thing is that I managed to spend some time with my best friend"
"Oh!? so you're not alone after all"
"It depends what "alone" means to you"
"I will tell you later what it means if you want" she replied as she chuckled.
"But for now, have you decided what you want to order?"
"Yes, I do"
Luis tells the girl what he decided to order and she writes it down in a small notebook that she puts in her apron. Then she went to the kitchen, which was just over the counter, and starts cooking. In this time Luis he took out his phone and started scrolling on social networks.
"Oh, I forgot, I didn't ask you, what's your name?" she asked.
Luis looks away from the phone screen and answers.
"It's Luis"
"Hmm....Luis...what an interesting name, and tell me Luis, what brings you to a place like this, in a day like this?"
"It's a long story...trust me"
"Well, I like to listen to stories while cooking, this way the food will be more delicious, so if you don't mind, I would like to know your story" she said winking at Luis.
"You really are an interesting person..."
"Amber"
"Excuse me?"
"My name is Amber, I know you wanted to ask about it"
"Ok, Amber, get ready because it's a very long story"
Luis started telling Amber what had happened that day, about how he tried to talk to different girls and was rejected in the clothing store, after which, a few minutes later in the shoe store. And how, after all this disaster, Zeke said he want to buy him something to eat to cheer him up. Amber began to laugh out loud, hearing Luis' story.
"Are you really serious when you tell me you told those girls those jokes? Luis, you're really crazy"
"Well, thanks for the compliment"
"But don't worry" she replied while she puts the bowl of food on Luis's table.
"I find you to be a very funny boy"
Luis remained silent a few seconds, and his color starts to change a bit, from a pale white to a bloody red.
"Well, thank you, it feels good to have a girl tell you that you are funny after being rejected twice in one day." Luis said as he prepared to eat.
"Hey, hey, hey what do you think you're doing? Don't you know it's not nice to eat other people's food?"
"Huh? Is this Zeke's food? Well, then where is my food?"
"I make you wait a little longer, to make sure you don't leave soon and that you'll stay here to tell me more about your adventures." she said while she smiled.
"You really are an interesting girl Amber...well be as you wish, so what else would you like me to tell you"
"Everything, I want to hear about all your adventures, I have the impression that whatever you tell me will be impressive"
"You really overestimate me...but either way, if that's what you want, that's it. Well, then pay attention to what I'm going to say, because I have a lot to tell, so much so that I don't think I'll have enough time to tell you everything today"
Amber giggled.
"It's perfect then, let's make a promise"
"A promise?"
"Yes, promise me you'll tell me everything about yourself, and I promise I'll make you the best food you've ever tasted in your life."
"Well, I don't mind talking to you about me, but I don't want to disappoint you, but I've been to a lot of luxury restaurants, so your competition is pretty big"
"That's not a problem!" Amber replied all fired up, she seemed pretty excited about what is going to happen.
"Well then, I promise I will tell you everything about me if you'll make me the best food today"
"That's all I wanted to hear"
She got to work, and after a while Luis' food was ready.
"Buon appetito!" she replied.
"That was Italian, wasn't it?"
"Yes, it was, now taste it!"
"Ok, ok, let's see how good this can be...."
After tasting the food prepared by Amber, Luis felt something he had never felt before in his life. Her food felt different, it was a grilled pork neck with a hard, crunchy crust, and the meat inside was soft and juicy.
"How did you do that?!" asked Luis.
"Do you like it?"
"I've eaten at a bunch of fancy restaurants in my life, but nothing compares to what I've just tasted"
"Well then, if you like it, don't forget your promise Luis, you owe me now" she answered, winking at him.
"Yes, it seems I do..." he replied smiling.
Meanwhile, another customer came to Amber to ask her something.
"Excuse me, miss, but the bathroom lock is stuck"
"Hmm, oddly enough I'm pretty sure I did the regular inspection this week and there was no problem with the locks"
At that moment, Luis was struck by an idea.
"I.. I think I know is the problem..."
"You do?" asked Amber.
"Yes...let me go inside and I'll fix it..." said Luis a little embarrassed.
"I'd appreciate it if you could do that" she replied.
After that, Luis bursts into the bathroom and starts knocking on the toilet door loudly.
"Zeke! Wake up! I know you're there!"
After about a minute the door opened and Zeke came out and looked exactly like a dead person.
"What ... what happened?" he asked as he rubbed his eyes.
"You fell asleep in the bathroom, that's what happened, I told you you should reduce the number of white nights spent with Yuki"
"Yes...I will" he replied yawning.
"Let's go home, Zeke, so you can sleep"
"Oh, what a pity, are you going to leave already?" said Amber with puppy eyes.
"Amber...this is my friend that I was talking about"
"So you must be Luis's friend, I'm Amber Luis's new friend, it's a pleasure to meet you Zeke"
"It's a pleasure to meet you to Amber, and sorry for falling asleep in your bathroom..."
"No problem, I know very well how it feels not to sleep nights in a row"
"Zeke, I need to show you something before we leave" said Luis.
"Huh? What is it?"
"Come here, you need to taste this"
Zeke tasted the food Amber made, and his reaction was similar to Luis's.
"Indeed that's very good"
"See, I told you" said Luis
"You are a very good cook Amber"
"Thank you Zeke, it means a lot, now enjoy the meal, both of you"
Zeke and Luis continue eating and in the meantime they talk with Amber about on various topics. In the end the time has come for the two of them to pack up and say goodbye to Amber, but before they leave, she told another thing.
"Don't forget your promise Luis"
"Yeah, I won't" he replied while leaving the restaurant.
"What promise?" asked Zeke.
"Hmm...You know what, today has not been such a bad day if I think about it"
"You make me think a lot happened while I was in the bathroom"
"You can say that...let's just say...I'm going to pay a few more visits here"
"Oh? It means that this day was not so bad after all"
"You can say that too"
