Yu Xuelan stumbled away from the crowded area of the party as she clung to half of a watermelon in her arms, wandering off to the back garden.
The blue orchid flowers covered the ground, only revealing a wavy path that seemed to be a pathway to heaven. The flowers swayed amongst the western breeze, which wailed with the blurred strains of music and the light chirps of birds.
Yu Xuelan's movements staggered the more she walked, and her entire body was heated from drinking too much.
During her past life, her alcohol tolerance had never been good and sadly, it was the same with this life, though maybe Lin Yuhe's alcohol tolerance was even worse. It was truly a pity since she always wanted to try drinking all sorts of alcohol.
She wandered off further into the garden and squinted her eyes upon seeing the white-clad boy crouched down all alone in the field of blue orchids, feeding three white birds.
"Sect Master Wu?" she mumbled while squinting her eyes more intensively.
Wu Zhitian turned around by the sudden voice and stood up, seeing it was the black-robed girl.
However, she pressed on his shoulders to push him back onto the flower field and also sat on the field with him, attempting to cross her legs but ultimately struggled.
He gazed at the girl in concern upon seeing how flushed her face was, clearly recognising that she was drunk.
"You..." Yu Xuelan uttered and scooped her half sliced watermelon, which Wu Zhitian flinched as he saw the large fruit that was in her grasp.
He hurriedly took the fruit and spoon away from her and mumbled, "That was dangerous..."
"Do you like these flowers?" She asked and examined the garden from beginning to end.
"Mn..." He said with his gaze fixated on her red face, "I like them."
Yu Xuelan's expression gradually became sombre and added, "I remember there used to be a bird that always gave me these flowers."
Wu Zhitian remained silent and stared at the drunken girl, but nobody knew that on the inside, it was like a chaotic hurricane travelling through his blood.
A gap of silence filled the atmosphere, yet it did not produce an unsettling awkwardness, but rather, both of them drifted away in their train of thoughts.
The brief silence was soon interrupted when the girl hiccupped and began laughing.
"You know... I just realized this, but..." she said and attempted to snatch back her watermelon. Luckily, Zhitian had already thrown it far away behind him, making sure it was out of her sight.
"But?"
Yu Xuelan squinted her eyes and blabbered, "You have really nice hands."
Wu Zhitian couldn't help but widen his eyes and attempt to connect each word of her sentence.
She laughed, "I heard the Earth Demon God loves eating women... Maybe if I became a Demon God I'll eat hands or something..."
He didn't know whether it was a compliment or something else, but he definitely hoped the girl would remember her words tomorrow.
After blurting some other random stuff Wu Zhitian listened attentively to, she stared silently at the other's face and examined every inch of his features.
She didn't know whether it was the effects of the alcohol, but Yu Xuelan thought this boy seemed extremely familiar. Too familiar. But It wasn't because she knew him in the past, but rather, the feeling he gave off was similar to something that used to linger around her. But what was it? She could not remember.
Wu Zhitian slowly raised his arms towards the side of her head. His fingers slightly touched a strand of her hair and he instantly withdrew it away.
He avoided her stare and hovered the back of his hand over his mouth in embarrassment. "Is there something on my face?"
"Hmmm... pigeon..." she muttered before slumping backwards, her heavy eyelids shut.
Wu Zhitian stared at her in confusion, but before her head could hit the hard surface, he leaned forwards and supported her head with his palm.
He stood up and carried her in his arms, his fingers slightly trembling. He made sure his steps weren't too fast or rocky to ensure there wasn't any discomfort on her side.
As Yu Xuelan's body was steaming, she was quite comfortable being in contact with Wu Zhitian's cold skin, though she was already asleep, so she was unaware of the ludicrous smile smudged on her face.
