Someone Wrote About My Non-Existent Love Life?

"Where is Sect Master Wu?" Feng Yi inquired.

"He went back down," the senior cultivator informed while sweat dripped down his palm.

"What? Why did he go back down again?"

"He said he was going to Hufeng City for the festival."

"Festival? Why so sudden?" Feng Yi questioned in confusion. "First, he went off to Xiao Village abruptly and now he's going to Hufeng City?"

"Well, I saw him leave with Lady Lin."

Feng Yi's bewilderment soon formed into a motherly smile, "Oh you should've said so! That Wu Zhitian, he's finally opening up again!"

Feng Yi smacked the cultivator's back twice and the cultivator awkwardly laughed in relief.

"Do you know how difficult it was to watch him close himself off from the world after Yu Xuelan died? I'm so glad he's found another person!"

"Yeah, but isn't it strange that he went to Xiao Village and came back with a disciple?" The boy questioned.

"It is strange, but I'm happy that he at least did something other than stay at this temple." Feng Yi smiled and leaned in towards the boy, "And it was also my first time seeing him genuinely smile again!"

"Really?! It wasn't an 'I'm going to kill you so I'll send you off with a smile' smile??" The boy covered his gaping mouth with his palms.

"Yes! I was so shocked at first but I can finally be at peace again," Feng Yi said proudly like he was a mother watching his son grow up.

"Maybe letting go of Yu Xuelan was for the best," he mumbled.

...

"Why is it so hot?" Yu Xuelan groaned and lifted her hood over her head to prevent the sun's burning gaze.

She sighed and looked around the village, noticing that it was not in such good shape since the streets were filled with dilapidated houses.

"This is..." She examined her surroundings, attempting to figure out where they were.

Wu Zhitian answered, "Ming'An Village."

The name of the village rang in her mind. It was a sort of strange familiarity, yet she couldn't clearly fathom what it was.

A few villagers stared at the two with a rather eerie look, as though they were demons dressed in human skin.

She didn't want to ask him why they weren't taking the carriage or horses, since she was afraid of appearing too ignorant. Well, walking for a while after being stuck in the temple all day was quite relaxing.

Yu Xuelan stared back at the glaring villagers and had an uncanny feeling that they were being watched by way more. But it wasn't anything to be taken too seriously since anyone would stare at people who they had never met before entering their home. She thought they couldn't have looked that unusual until she realized something.

Glancing at Wu Zhitian, who walked next to her, an unusual dazzling brightness shrouded around him, which stood out amongst this gloominess.

"Sect Master Wu, I think you should cover your face," Yu Xuelan suggested and turned her face away to avoid the radiating light.

He thought little of this and simply covered his head with his white hood.

Although there were some people who stared at them weirdly, it was still quite a tender village. On one side of the street, the atmosphere was filled with the laughs and giggles of children playing. However, on the other side, it was filled with the anguish and distress of the adults who slouched in front of their houses, looking extremely sleep deprived and starved.

Yu Xuelan smiled while watching the children play, but beneath that smile lied a hint of dejection, almost like it had triggered a memory that she had forgotten. It was a memory that she did not have a memory of. She had never once played so freely outside at that age. Or perhaps she did. But it did not feel like she was playing herself. Instead, she was playing with strings attached to her, and at the end of those strings, were strangers.

"Hey, the couple over there!" A man shouted, and he beckoned the two to come over.

The man's word choice puzzled Wu Zhitian, but Yu Xuelan immediately walked towards the man out of interest.

"Boss, what are you selling?" Yu Xuelan asked.

"Well, well, these are extremely limited novels written by the brilliant author Chaoji Shuai!" the man said, and smacked his palm with his fan.

"Cha, Chaoji Shuai? That's a unique name," Yu Xuelan laughed and picked up a book. Surprisingly, the man raised his brows upon seeing the girl.

It may have just been because of his old age, but the man thought that Yu Xuelan looked extremely familiar, though he could not pinpoint who.

He instantly discarded those tentative thoughts since he could only see half of Xuelan's face because of her hood. After all, a customer was a customer!

"What are these novels about?" Yu Xuelan asked.

"Hm, I guess you're a newbie. They're all on the infamous... Snow Flower, Yu Xuelan!"

"What? Really?!" she exclaimed in shock along with the man.

"Yes! His novels are so great, they're even adapting it into a theatre production!" He beamed, leaning towards Yu Xuelan. "This is a secret, but I heard it's going to be both a play!"

"Woah! Where can I watch it?!"

"Buy these novels first and I'll tell you," the man advised and wiggled his eyebrows.

Yu Xuelan rummaged through her sleeves before turning around to Wu Zhitian, who was standing a few steps behind her. She examined him from head to toe and grinned when she saw his pouch of coins. He followed her gaze and saw her staring at his red pouch, realizing what she was after.

The girl just smiled and Wu Zhitian stared at her in silence while disappointment smeared across his face. It wasn't because of the fact that Yu Xuelan was asking for money, instead; he felt disappointed at the novels.

Like he wanted to burn them.

Wu Zhitian shook his head lightly.

"I haven't even said anything yet," Yu Xuelan sulked.

"Look, his novels are so famous because they tell the story of Yu Xuelan's entire life in such detail," he mentioned and continued. "It's filled with her losses, reconnections, struggles, family, and most importantly..."

"Most importantly?" Yu Xuelan repeated, eager to find out what he was going to say.

"Let's go," Wu Zhitian said and pulled her sleeves, preparing to drag her away from the stall.

"Her secret love life!" He enunciated.

Wu Zhitian immediately glared at the man while Yu Xuelan gasped in astonishment, "Woah! The author even wrote about my- her secret love life?"

Puzzled, Wu Zhitian knitted his brows when he saw Xuelan gleaming with enthusiasm with the mention of her "love life".

"Why are you interested in her love life?" Wu Zhitian asked.

"I'm just curious."

He stared at Yu Xuelan, who was looking quite eager to read the novels and felt defeated.

Wu Zhitian, "...."

"We'll take the whole series," he stated firmly and handed the bag of cash.

"Alright, good sir! I'll pack it up for you!"

Yu Xuelan's eyes radiated with light and professed, "Sect Master Wu, you will forever have a special place in my heart."

Wu Zhitian's hands immediately went numb. It was only those words. That sentence. It placed a mountain on his shoulders and the same suffocation returned. Before the girl could notice his hands were slightly trembling, he turned his face away and put the novels in a lotus bag before walking off.

"He was so against me buying those novels and he ended up buying them anyway, even carrying them."

Yu Xuelan smiled while gazing at the broad back that walked further and further away, yet, the further he continued to walk ahead, her smile gradually faded away and transformed into something indescribable.

"Was he always that tall?" she thought.

Has it really been eight years? Eight years may have passed, but to Wu Zhitian, it was more. The scars beneath that pale surface that acted as a clear barrier, there was something lingering within that could never be seen by the eyes of others.

She didn't know why, but her palms began sweating. And the memories that she thought would stay buried underneath her heart drifted to the surface.

Before Yu Yang threw her into the demonic realm, 'someone' had blasted the top of the mountain she was walking through, ultimately collapsing on her and destroying her body.

When the rubble was all lifted off, the first person she saw was Wu Zhitian, his hands filled with blood and scratches, and his breath was heavy and unsteady. The white part of his eyes was polluted with red, as if he had cried for the entire two months, and his hair and robe were all unkempt, stained with dirt.

She didn't know why he was there and she could barely remember anything after that since her mind and heart were corrupted with anger and resentment towards Yu Yang.

The moment she came out with her entire mind and vision all blurred, Wu Zhitian immediately ran up to her and...

"What did he do again? I can't remember. Wait... Am I misremembering things again?" she thought.

She could not remember clearly, but after she escaped from the demonic realm, Wu Zhitian was nowhere to be seen ever again.

An apologetic feeling swelled within Yu Xuelan, but she instantly shook it off.

After all, even if she apologized now, she can't remember what she was apologizing for and this apology wouldn't be from Yu Xuelan, but Lin Yuhe.

Wu Zhitian stopped walking and looked back, realized he couldn't hear the girl's footsteps following behind. He tilted his head confusedly and waited for Yu Xuelan to follow. The girl snapped out of her thoughts and beamed a smile, skipping towards the white-clad boy.

Those that were lost and missed in her previous life, she wondered if it was possible for her to make up for those forgotten parts now.
