DAY ONE

"Are you sure you're gonna be fine?" Lucia asks me as she walks me to the door. "I'm gonna be fine," I assure her as I walk out the door. Walking away, I turn around and give Lucia a goodbye wave.

The nearest bus station is 7 minutes away. I have 2 hours left before the interview. Getting on the bus, I wonder if my interview is gonna be fine and if I'm gonna mess up. I take a deep breath and take the nearest seat to the door. I take my earphones and listen to the waves of the sea calm me down.

My destination comes into view and I prepare myself as I walk towards the house. Compared to normal houses, this looks like the grand monument of houses.

"Are you here for the interview?" a petite lady asks me. "yes I am." I answer embarrassed that I was caught staring. "Well follow me," she leads me towards the entrance of the house.

As I walk in, my self confidence dwindles from a walking mountain to the smallest chihuahua. The number of applicants seated and prepped for the interview make me fell like an underperforming interviewee in my plain black pencil skirt, white long sleeved blouse and black pumps. I knew I should have tied my hair in a bun than let it go in a pony tail. I hug my jacket close to me as I'm led to the next seat in line. Instantaneously a man who looks in her mid 40s walks into the room and speaks in the most refined voice I have ever heard. "Good morning Ladies and gentlemen, the interview will begin in 10 minutes. Please be prepared." She says as she walks towards and passes down number tags from the very first person to the last person. Me. " You will be called out number wise and will be given a maximum of 10 minutes each to introduce yourselves and give a brief account of your background and work experience." She says calmly as she walks away to the interview room.

I take a look at my number tag. 28. This is gonna take some time, I subconsciously scream to myself. Better put myself in order before being called upon. Taking deep breaths, I conjure up a perfect family background and work experience. I have to get this job. By all costs.

Time goes by slowly making me nervous and my arms sweaty.

" Number 25," the lady calls out and walks back in the room. The man 3 seats away from me stands and takes a deep breath before walking into the room. Cool as a cucumber. All the best to him. I on the other hand. Not the same story. My palms are sweating profusely and I can feel myself starting to hyperventilate. This will be fun. 15 minutes pass by and he still isn't out yet. He's taken longer than all the other applicants. Might as well say goodbye to the job.

He walks out of the room almost instantly, as if reading my thoughts. He's cool composure breaks down immediately the door behind him is shut. He looks glum and exhaustedted. He does the most surprising thing I can witness in such a situation. He straightens his back, lifts his head up high and smiles. He walk out of the hallway happily like nothing ever happened. "What a weird guy," I say to myself as I watch him walk away, as the next person is called in.

I wait in silence for my turn while I give myself the most perfect background.

"Number 28" I look up as I'm called out from my thoughts. I stand and walk towards the door. I remind myself to smile and look happy. I walk into the room and find myself looking at a familiar face. My lucky tipper. "Miss Sethrony Moore?" My lucky tipper asks me looking at my application form I mailed out a week ago. " Yes that's me." I say as calmly as I can. "Please take a seat" He says as he looks up at me and directs to the seat infront of his red oak office table. He doesn't remember me.

I take a seat and wait for the questioning to begin. "It says here that you're 21 and never worked as a book store keeper?" He looks up at me questioningly with those bright emerald green eyes piercing into me. " yes" I answer as sweetly as I can. He flips over my application form and looks at me intently. "Please, tell me about yourself."
