Chapter 5

As they walked through the cafeteria, some elated girls came at Kairon and made him let go of James' waist.

The biggest one was stunned with so many people on top of him, but James took advantage of such circumstance to go get his lunch quietly without attracting attention.

After grabbing his lunch and Kairon's, he whistled surreptitiously, drawing the attention of the bigger one who managed to get rid of the people surrounding him and follow the smaller one to a secluded side of the academy, the stables.

But to James' misfortune, the horses began to stir at Kairon's presence, as his instincts told him he was indeed dangerous.

-The other animals cannot distinguish my human form from my animal form, because I still have the same smell and the same presence as before. _commented feeling like a failure for spoiling the moment alone he had with the boy.

-All right. Let's eat quickly and find another place to stay. I know it would be good for you to make new friends to understand human behavior, but I am not well regarded at school and if you want to be in my company, we must stay away from others. _James spoke sighing.

-And why are you frowned upon? _the lycan asked, afflicted by the minor.

-I'm from a poor family and also a bad user of magic. _commented biting the sandwich.

-Bad user? You're kidding, right? I feel the magic that emanates from you and it is very powerful. You can be sure. _said smiling, showing the long canines.

-I know that, but the others don't know why I have to pretend. Have you ever thought if people found out I have a level eleven spell? Mine is bigger than the prince's own! I would be arrested for this. _said whispering.

-Ah understood. So I'll help you hide your identity by protecting you from the bad guys who try to do something with you. he spoke, stroking the younger's flushed cheek.

Something started to stir Kairon and it made him feel like he wanted to get closer to James.

In doing so, to his surprise, James pressed his lips to his in a brief seal, which eventually turned into a passionate kiss.

After they parted, Kairon smiled like a fool for having had that unique contact with the smallest.

-You kissed me.... _ the bigger one whispered with shining eyes.

-A great kiss by the way. Sorry about that, but the truth is, I've fallen in love with you since you were a wolf, to be honest.

-Can I kiss you again? _Kairon asked anxiously.

-Only when I get home, because there's a risk of someone seeing us. _said apprehensive.

-But someone has seen us. _Kairon said pointing to a tree. _That boy was looking at us.

When James looked at the tree his world fell apart. This was the prince who had seen it all and heard it all.

-Shit! Let's get out of here. _spoke pulling Kairon, but the prince jumped in front of them.

- Where are you going, little commoner? _said with an arrogant expression.

-Your Highness, I cannot explain what you saw or heard, but if you can humbly not tell anyone, I will owe you my life. _James asked anxiously.

-I won't tell anyone but I want you to be my personal squire. If what you say is true, then having someone with a high level of magic to protect me is always good. _spoke passing his index finger over James' neck, up to his chin.

Kairon growled at that and shifted into attack position.

-I don't know who or what you are, but know that I'm a prince and I do what I want and when I want. Get out of my way because I haven't finished talking to him. he said, pushing Kairon to the side.

-I don't care who you are, as long as you don't touch what's mine. he growled totally furious, to the point of not being able to hold on any longer and transforming into a huge black wolf, in front of the prince and in front of some people who passed the place at the end of the break.

-Shit! James shouted fearfully for what Kairon could do to the prince and what others could do to his wolf.

He quickly jumped on the lycan's back and sent him running away.

The wolf answered and headed towards the forest, but many knights who were staying at the academy began to chase them.

Kairon ran at full speed and James gripped his long fur tightly, fearing he would fall.

Seeing no other option, the smaller one removed his glove and launched huge and powerful flames at those who pursued him causing a devastating fire in the forest.

-We can't stay here! Run to the mountains. he yelled to Kairon.

The wolf answered, but before jumping over the river James was hit by an arrow and fell.

-Run! Run! Leave me here! he yelled to Kairon. _I'm going after you! No matter the time, I will go, but I can't let them catch you. Go! he yelled as blood came out of his mouth.

Kairon, despite his will, knew it was best for both of them and so he fled. He knew the smaller one was strong and had the ability to survive, but he martyred himself for being the cause of James' suffering.

They barely had moments together and he had already destroyed his life. All because of something that even he didn't know what it was, but that had influenced his instincts because he hated anyone getting their hands on the little one.

But because of that he revealed himself, made James a fugitive and still get hit by an arrow.

No matter how many years passed, he would be doomed for the rest of his life, especially if something bad happened to the minor.
