The house felt cold, empty, as if in deathly silence. They stared anxiously at their phones, waiting for some call, some communication. I knew the kidnapping was bad, but the fact that all the children were missing made it look worse. 


Crystal was desperate, Yossier was a mute presence, paralyzed, bewildered. 


They didn't know what to do. The police gave her no hope, they simply could not both sleep; and they stared silently into the darkness. They didn't know how to act, they needed their children, they needed to prepare food, they needed to see their actions, their company, they felt fragile, abandoned, and empty. 


A knock on the window made them look frightened at the same time.
