Chapter 52

“I was left with no choice but to find them, to save them.” I sat back quietly as more tears rolled down his cheeks as if he was reliving that moment.

“I found them of course, Althea’s power has not faltered with her age. But, I was not prepared for who and what had taken them. A pup, without his wolf, was no match for vampires. Let alone one as old as him.”

“Who?” I whispered, his eyes darkened with rage as he spat his name.

“James.”

He growled before closing his eyes, taking a moment to calm himself.

“He overpowered me very quickly, almost enjoying how hard I fought back to no avail. Only when I had given up, prepared to die at his hands did he stop. It was juvenile of me to expect an easy death, he wanted me to suffer.”

He licked his lips as I felt his body shake, I squeezed his hand again and he stopped. Giving me a sad smile before looking back to the waterfall.
