The Right To Exist.

“The trail ends here!” Mavena crouched down and ran her fingers along the deep tracks furrowed among the red soil. “Search for them!”

The soldiers nodded and formed into groups before heading deep inside the forest. Mavena stood still, alone and in silence as they all left. She unsheathed one of her swords and touched upon the blade in reminiscence. Sunlight glinted off its dull surface, revealing faint cracks, withering among the backdrop of its former lustre.

“Leofric, I will avenge you,” she muttered under her breath; a teardrop slid down her cheek and splashed on the ground, seeping inside the cracks and never to be seen again.

Two azure flames watched her from above, in between the deluge of the black leaves that harrowed the entire forest, “Now she got me interested.”

“Humph!” Faviana snorted from the side.

“What?” Vincent asked.

“What do you mean interested?” she said with reddened cheeks.

“Interested in her story,” he replied.

“Only that?” she asked again.
