“We are saved! We are saved!” the villagers cheered from below.
“The Hero saved us! Saved us!” someone added.
“Hero! All hail the Hero!” another one followed in.
“More nuisances,” Vincent massaged his forehead and narrowed his eyes at the scenes ensuing atop the evergreen dome; he then sighed and landed beyond the canopy. “They better not--”
The villagers climbed down and ran towards him. Raising their swords and shields up in the air, they circled around him and cheered once again. Some touched upon his skeletal wings in curiosity, some tried to lift him up and throw him in the air while the more sensible ones just asked for his name. Vincent stayed silent, for he ignored them all and glared at the evergreen sanctuary. Until a deep voice broke off all their buffoonery.
“Don’t disturb the Hero,” the voice was enacted from inside.
“It’s the guardian!” someone said.
“Sorry for all this,” they all bowed in repentance and cleared the path for him.
