The day before

- Freak, a real freak. That's who you are, Lucius. You managed to deceive Fudge, but you won't deceive me or Headmaster Dumbledore. Oh, you already know that perfectly well. You consider yourself superior to us, you think you can just neglect us. But you'll see what Severus Snape is capable of. I'll make you respect me and pay you back for all the humiliations. I swear it.

So thinking, Snape walked from corner to corner. Alerted by the curiosity of Malfoy Sr., he decided to watch for the sleeping boys in the Slytherin dungeon. Everyone knows Lucius as a strong wizard who can control someone else's will. And everyone knows that he'll never do the dirty work with his own hands. After all, everyone knows him as a Death Eater. And such a person is capable of anything.

Suddenly, his train of thought was interrupted by a strange tickling sensation along the entire length of his legs. It was a very unpleasant goosebumps. The professor began to twitch his legs, as if trying to get rid of the stimulus, but the more he did this, the more unpleasant and intense these sensations became. Soon they moved on to Snape's hands, stomach, and chest. When he had already fallen to the floor, unable to resist, the sensations passed to his neck and face. That's when he saw a huge flock of small spiders, Snape was paralyzed with horror. A memory flashed before his eyes.

***********************

The fourth year of Hogwarts. Young Severus and sweet Lily Evans have just finished studying in the library and, having separated, went to their rooms. Four shadows followed the boy. Suspiciously familiar shadows. Fear ran through his body like an electric current. It must be them... but he couldn't show that he was scared, he couldn't give them the spectacle they wanted so much. The situation was also heated by the fact that it was already quite late, there was almost no one left in the corridors, Snape realized that it was pointless to count on someone's help.

- Incarcero! - Severus fell to the floor, bound and immobilized.

- Hmm, who is this we have here. Severus Snape himself. Well, hello, - James said with a malicious smile.

- Look at his face. Snivellus is going to cry now, - Sirius burst out laughing.

- I see you're having a great time with Lily, - James sounded jealous — well, it won't be for long. Someone like you will never be worthy of someone like her. In time, her pity for you will pass.

- Are you jealous, Potter? - Snape tried to defend himself somehow.

- What? What did you say? REPEAT IT!

- I've said this many times and I'll repeat it again. You're a pathetic, arrogant boy who only gains strength when surrounded by dogs like them, - he looked contemptuously at Pettigrew. – Alone, you're absolutely NOTHING.

- How dare you? - James was already pointing his wand at him, but Sirius stopped him with a grin.

- Chill out. He hasn't finished yet. Let Snivellus pour out his soul.

- You're a nasty, spoiled jerk. That's who you are. You're used to getting everything you want. But you couldn't get Evans, Evans is your number one goal. So you're harassing me. Admit it, she's nothing more than a thing for you, a toy to amuse your ego.

- A thing? How dare he compare Lily to a thing. What does he know about me?

Snape's last remark made James really angry. Suddenly there was a flash, the boy passed out and opened his eyes, when he was already tied up in the nest. In the spider's nest.

He remembered every second he spent there. He remembered every glance directed at him. These glances were full of a wild desire to taste a piece of this little man. They were getting closer, and there were more of them. Desperate, Severus prepared to die. He closed his eyes, tried not to think about the fear, tried not to think about the spider legs touching him and the pain. The pain was unbearable, it was everywhere, at that moment it seemed that it would never end. Severus blacked out.

And then a light came into his eyes. He woke up in the hospital. The pain in his body was still the same. The bed was covered in blood, the wounds from spider bites couldn't heal.

- P-Potter... - was the only thing Snape could say.

- Oh, Severus, you can't talk right now, - Madam Pomfrey fussed over the poor boy. - Mr. Potter came by this morning to check on you. Don't worry, I'll tell him that you've regained consciousness and want to thank him.

- Thank him?

- Of course! Mr. Potter is our hero. It was he who rescued you from the hands of those creatures.

Snape let out a desperate groan.
