Street race pt.2

Tej and the other drivers looked over at him, as Bruce rolled his eyes. Shifting his position, he stood behind Suki still holding her, and faced the driver who called him out as he whispered to himself, "Why the fuck do people keep on calling me a pretty boy here, it wasn't a problem back in New York."

Suki who was the only one who heard him chuckled, as Bruce looked at the driver who called him out. "I don't race."

"Are you scared?" The driver said as he continued the later part of his sentence in Spanish, "Fucking pussy,"

"Your cars are fixed with NOS, whereas mine is ordinary." Bruce who could understand him clearly due to his skill communicated back with him using Spanish as well, "And if you want to pick a fight do so in a language they understand, pussy."

The drive just glared at him and didn't continue to say anything after that.

Bruce wasn't fazed by the driver, after all, he wasn't the type to lose control just because a nobody provoked him. Having patience and winning without lifting a finger was the best part about being strong and confident.

Only weaklings and losers picked fight with every person they met just because they looked at them the wrong way. He had met several people like that who where over confident in their ability, but every time it was clear that it was just a sign of some deep rooted insecurity.

"Why don't I find you a fourth and you can settle it on the street?" Tej said and with the other driver's approval, he went over to call his mysterious fourth driver.

"You speak Spanish?" Suki asked,

"What can I say, I am a man of surprise." Bruce shrugged,

Suki rolled her eyes, as Bruce shifted his attention to the driver "How about we make an extra bet, between you and me?"

"You're not even racing."

"I know but my girl here is," Bruce said pointing to Suki,

"Okay, okay, I'll hear you out." The driver nodded with a mocking smile on his face,

"The bet is simple, you have to beat my girl on the race. You don't need to get the first place, as long as you are ahead of her you win."

"I'll take it." The driver laughed with a confident look, "So what are we betting?"

"Cars, if you win you take my car, and if you lose I take yours." Bruce said with a lazy expression, "So deal?"

"Deal!" The driver said, "Even if I lose the race, I am still winning so why wouldn't I?"

Bruce looked at Suki, "You heard him, so make sure you win. That car is technically the only physical property I own."

"Then why would you bet it?" Suki asked, "No scratch that, that is the only physical property you own? What about a house?"

Bruce couldn't match her eyes and tell her he had been living in the glorified assassin hotel all this time, "I have some circumstances."

"The more I know about you, the stranger you get." Suki shook her head, "But don't worry, I'll get you a new car."

Suki knew that Bruce made the bet for her due to the man's previous remarks, so she didn't say much about it, in fact, she was more curious about Bruce's identity than focusing on the race.

"Is Bruce even your real name?"

"Not really, I was an orphan before and had another name which I can't really remember now but after being adopted I changed my name to Bruce Walker." Bruce said casually, "Don't you ever say that I never told you anything about me."

Suki rolled her eyes leaning back on him, as they waited for the fourth driver to arrive, and within a couple of minutes, they could all hear a car coming through as the fourth driver came in hot, revving his engine.

"Shit, it's Brian," Suki said looking at the car that parked next to the other drivers.

"Good luck, and make me proud," Bruce said as he kissed Suki's cheeks before walking towards the sideline where the rest of the spectators were.

Bruce was in the meantime observing the agent, who had her eyes on Brian, the fourth driver.

'It seems Brian here is the choice of the agent.' Bruce sat back as the race started with all the people cheering for them.

"You new in town, man?" Tej walked over to him, "I have never seen you here before."

"Yeah, something like that. You must be Tej Parker." Bruce shook his hands, "So what's up?"

"Nah! I am just checking, you with Suki?" Tej who had come over to ask him about Suki went over his main intention quite quickly,

"Yeah, it's going well." Bruce shrugged as he quickly changed the topic to something he was more interested in, "But leaving that, I heard you got some skills."

Tej who couldn't help but sigh after losing Suki to a newcomer still nodded at him, "I see you got a sweet ride with you, but I can make some improvements."

Tej was a businessman through and through and he wasn't going to let any opportunity slide,

"Can you make it bulletproof?"

Tej looked over at Bruce not sure if he was joking or not, but seeing his casual expression he didn't know what to make of it, "I can do it, but it'll take some time and a lot of money, and... it might not be something legal."

"I'll bring the car over to your garage then," Bruce nodded, "Make it faster, tint the windows and all that. I'll give you the whole details later."

Tej who still wasn't sure if Bruce was pulling his leg or not nodded. "Sure man, I'll hook you up with a great deal. But can I ask why would you need a bulletproof car?"

"I have always wanted one."

Bruce knew about Tej, who was good at fixing cars in a whole another level. He was like a legendary blacksmith that could do anything, the only thing different being that he worked with cars, so he was more like a legendary mechanic.

So upgrading his car was an excuse for him to judge his ability, since Bruce was leaving the continental, he needed to get his 'equipment' somewhere else alongside major upgrades. So this was a way for him to build contacts, with talented people he could find.

Tej, who had to continue with his showmanship left him alone after some small talk as he opened up the bridge.

And as expected, Brian and another driver crossed through, but the driver lost control of his car and crashed straight into a billboard leaving Brian as the winner. The next was one was Suki, who jumped across coming in second, and the driver who made a bet with him didn't even make the jump.

It seemed that he pussied out but to Bruce, he clearly made the correct choice. No one in their right mind should pull that stunt unless they wanted to be a cripple.

Bruce looked at Suki's car with the fucked up front, as he couldn't help but get more interested in her. This girl was crazy as him, maybe even more. He asked himself if he would make that jump and the answer was no every single time.

'She could definitely do it.' Bruce made up his mind about her,

"I won you a new car, so what's in it for me?" Suki asked as she hopped out of her car.

"That's the first thing you say." Bruce chuckled, "You can keep the car till yours gets fixed. As for what's in it for you... what do you want?"

"Some answers," Suki replied,

Bruce was about to say something when he heard police sirens coming towards them, 'Perfectly late! How nice of them to let these guys finish the race.'
