Wendigo

A lot of whooshing and roars coming from deep within the woods. People panicking as they scuffle with each other when all of a sudden one of the men just disappeared. Something pulled him within the woods.

Random gun fires, more roars, and all of a sudden nothing but complete silence. As the man who was wearing the bodycam laid on the cold floor, the last thing that appeared on the screen was a tall, skinny goblin-like figure attacking him. Its glowing eyes, long yellowed fangs, terrible claws, and overly long tongues surely made for something straight out of a horror movie.

Bruce stared at the footage of the monster for a time as silence filled the air. There were three people inside the military's camp excluding him. One of them was Gibbons himself and the remaining two were his associates.

Everyone was seriously giving Bruce some space as they knew how shocking this could be to someone, after all, they had a hard time processing this too. But unlike what they were thinking, Bruce had some other thoughts brewing in his head,

'Holy shit! Monsters exist? I mean, sure I was already convinced of some vampires from the little information I had about this world, but this creature is something completely out of my expectation. I wonder how much exp will it give me.'

Bruce shook his head, knowing well to not count his chickens before they hatched as he took a deep breath,

"So this so-called secretive job of yours is to show me a B-grade horror flick?" Bruce broke the silence, "I mean, I give you props for the special effects but the plot sucks ass and you should really work on the camera angle. Maybe better actors too."

"Do you seriously think I wasted all my time with you, so I can show you a movie and have you judge it?" Gibbons said throwing a file in front of him,

"Seriously?" Bruce acted surprised, "Hey cutie over there with the glasses, is he fucking with me? Are you all trying to fuck with me?"

"N-No!" The girl hurriedly shook her head suddenly being put in the spotlight, "It's real... all of it is."

Bruce skimmed through the files as he shook his head, "So three of your X's died alongside seven highly trained special forces and you want me to go get that goblin for you? You must be kidding me."

"You don't seem too unnerved by it," Gibbons said looking at his calm demeanor,

"Did you not hear what I just said?" Bruce shook his head, "Besides I have seen a couple of mutants in my time. But never one so ugly."

"It's not a mutant." The girl with the glasses responded, "With few pieces of evidence we managed to secure we can tell with certainty that the creature is not a mutant. In fact, we believe that it's a whole different monster of its own, though we can find traces of them being human at one point."

*Cough!*

Gibbons interrupted the girl who was talking way too fast as if her life depended on it.

"I am sorry, I have a tendency to get overly excited about this kind of thing, though it's scary and grotesque but knowing something like this exists and researching about them from afar is something I am completely okay with it. But I get carried away now and then-"

"Breath!" Bruce said stopping her, as she finally calmed down, "What's your name?"

"Becky, I am a tech specialist. You know, like the hackers you see in movies... I deal with support... mostly, but for most-"

"Too much information, Agent Clearidge." Gibbons shook his head as he turned towards Bruce, "So what do you think?"

"What do I think?" Bruce said,

"Yeah! Give your analysis on the situation." Gibbons said in an exaggerated manner, "You're an assassin, so if you had to deal with this monster what would you do."

Bruce let out a small chuckle, "So a 'monster' you say, well I wouldn't know how else to describe it either. The way it is attacking those people and dragging them away, I am guessing that it is going to eat them later for sure. That means it surely has a den or a nest of some sort. And it isn't alone."

"Bullet doesn't seem to work and for all, I know they could be immortals. High strength, quick movements so it's not something as easy as dealing with humans would be. So I would need more information on them before I can give you a bad-ass story you're itching for."

"Stop treating me like one of your X's, Gibbons. The theatrics of it all and you revealing information to me little by little to surprise and shock me doesn't work. Even though this technically is a meeting, you don't need to impress me so can we get through this sooner. I still have a lot of shit to do."

Gibbons uncomfortably coughed as he nodded at Becky who was standing there with a smile since it was always Gibbons who told them off. Noticing the glaring Gibbons she quickly turned on the tablet in her hand,

"The monster or creature whatever you like to call them, are what the locals called Wendigo." Gibbons began describing as numerous photos and reports appeared on the screen in front of them, "They have been sighted all throughout the world, and their kill rate is through the roof. You obviously don't need me to tell you, why this is a secret now, do you?"

"I am sure you find it hard to believe in myths and lores, and I am not so sure about it either." Gibbons continued, "But according to the myths, they are humans who indulged themselves in a bit of cannibalism which gave them as you guessed enhanced physical abilities and immortality, but turned them into these ugly motherfuckers."
