Jealousy

Ding-!

-System: Dungeon boss 'Spider Queen' defeated.

-System: Clear objection completed. Opening gate.

The familiar sound of the system resounded in Sung-jin's head again. At this point, the sounds didn't really make a sound to Sung-jin, and he just completely ignored them.

"How many times have I seen these notifications now?"

He sighed as he sat down on the ground in front of the fading Spider Queen's corpse. He looked with suspension as the item revealed itself.

"Damn it! Not again!"

He yelled, picking up the item the Spider Queen dropped.

"This is the hundredth time I have gotten this stupid bone!"

He sounded mad and threw the useless spider bone inside his inventory where it could lay with all the rest of them. He exaggerated a bit on how many he had, but he was a little pissed about getting it again.

"I need to take a break now. I have been running this dungeon for about three days now."

He said tiredly as he looked at his equipment to see his progress.

"This set is actually quite amazing; I don't regret grinding for it at all. There is just one thing I miss, though, and that's the Adventures Gloves."

He sounded a bit depressed. He was nearly done collecting every armor piece, but the last one still remained. And it takes him about thirty minutes to clear the dungeon, and the dungeon has a cooldown of one hour before you can enter again.

"I can do about sixteen runs every day, so I'm quite limited on how fast I can get the armor pieces. But I think I'm doing quite well."

He cheered himself up and walked towards the blue gate for the fiftieth time now.

"How are my stats looking?"

-Status Window

Name: Sung-jin | Level: 13 | Age: 20 | Title: Dark Apostle | First Generation

Strength: 10(+16)

Vitality: 10(+13)

Agility: 50

Dexterity: 25

Intelligence: 10

Stat Points: 10

Skills:

Night Slash: Dark Type

Titles:

Dark Apostle: Lvl 1 [Exp: 8%]

He looked at his stats with excitement.

"Quite good! I have also leveled up once, so I have five stat points, plus the one's I got from being the first to clear the hidden quest, that makes it ten!"

Sung-jin thought for a bit; however, he eventually spent them all on Dexterity.

"That takes Dexterity to thirty-five. I'm now probably the strongest newbie in the game."

He said aloud while laughing.

"My title has gone up in experience as well. When I have mana, I use Night Slash as much as I can before it runs out. But still, after three days of nearly nonstop using Nigh Slash, it's only at eight…"

He sighed again before he went through the blue gate, taking him out to the dungeon entrance.

'What should I do now?'

Sung-jin thought about what to do in the one-hour break he had.

'I'm a bit tired, maybe go back to the city and get some rest?'

He questioned if it was worth going back and rest or just staying at the entrance and wait. But he quickly chose to go back as he saw how many people there were at the dungeon. He walked past the people at the entrance. And as he walked, he could hear people whispering to each other.

"Have you seen his gear? Who's sponsoring him?"

That was the majority of what people talked about. Usually, when a newbie had good gear, it meant that a big guild or someone rich was giving them items. And since Sung-jin nearly had the Adventures set, he became a victim to such rumors.

"The Dragons Guild must have scouted him; I have seen a lot from their guilds being to this year's generation gather."

People looked jealous at him as he walked. And everyone had different theories on who was the sponsor, but something every theory had in common was that he hadn't gotten the armor himself.

'It's not that impressive. I don't even have the full set yet.'

Sung-jin thought and hurriedly left the site and went on the path towards Kintroies.

'I will come back in an hour, but first… Some sleep.'

He quickly got to the big draw bridge entrance to Kintroies and went inside the city. The stares he got when he walked the street were no different from those he got at the Spider Hill dungeon, which made him a bit irritated.

'Let me just go and sell the things I have gotten from the dungeon the past few runs, and after that, I will get some rest.'

He thought of his plan as he walked straight to the guildhall near the town square where the tutorial gate appears once a year. It was the biggest building in the area, and it had a big sign that said 'Kintroies Guildhall' over the entrance.

'They have really made a name for themselves in this world.'

He thought of the nine pillars and their impressive achievements as he looked at the giant building in front of him. And one of those achievements was establishing a system that makes players the protectors of the Aephioros continent.

'I never really used the guildhalls much since they weren't established when I came to this world. But they are supposedly beneficial for both the citizens and the players. However, I mainly use it for selling my useless monster drops…'

Sung-jin couldn't think of anything but the stupid spider bones the boss sometimes drops. And he looked irritated inside of his inventory as he went through the entrance to the guildhall.

"Hello! How can I help you?"

He got immediately greeted as he stepped inside the hall. It was a girl with short light hair that stood behind a counter that greeted him.

"I want to sell these."

Sung-jin answered her, sounding a bit tired. He walked towards the counter where the girl was and emptied his inventory on top of it irritatedly.

"Wow! You always seem to amaze me."

The girl said, amazed at how many items laid in front of her. She stared at the many bones and eyes that had been dropped by the various spiders the man in front of her had killed.

"Let me just quickly count how much money it's worth."

She began to count every piece of drops and what it should cost. And as she did that, Sung-jin got distracted by something else.

"Are those the quests that the guilds give you?"

He asked the girl and pointed at a board to the side of the hall's building.

"Ahh! Damn it, I lost it…"

She exclaimed furiously at the interruption by the man.

"Yes, it is…"

She answered him, a bit annoyed as she went straight back to counting the drops again.

'I should probably not disturb her.'

Sung-jin thought it was best not to annoy her too much since she would probably hurt him if he did.

'Let me take a quick look while I'm waiting.'

His attention span was short, and he went to the big board where the guild's quests were displayed.

'Okay, there is so much to learn…'

Sung-jin had looked at the board for a while and the information folder that was available to read. And as he read about it, the girl from behind the counter that he had forgotten all about, suddenly stood behind him.

"Here are your coins."

She said with a smile on her face, and her hand stretched out with a pouch in it. It surprised Sung-jin a bit because he was deep in his thoughts.

"There are eight silver coins and forty-two bronze."

She continued as she gave him the pouch in his hand.

"Thanks."

Sung-jin said with a smile, marking the end of their interaction.

"If there is anything you need, just ask."

The girl ended their conversations as she turned around to walk back to her counter.

'She's sweet.'

He thought as he continued to read the folder.

'I think I got the idea now.'

Sung-jin had read the whole folder that explained what this board was about and how it worked.

'Long story short—'

He wanted to repeat what he had understood up to now, so he was a hundred percent sure he wasn't too wrong. However, something got in his way.

"Hey, are you Sung-jin?"

A mysterious voice interrupted him.
