You step forward cautiously and circle to the right side. The deer twitches as each fleshy chunk pulls from its wound, and its eyes are wide open. The deer is alive but immobilized by two broken hind legs. Blood soaks into the forest floor, creating a soggy mud beneath the ranger's feet. As you pull further alongside the scene, you can finally see the ranger's face, which is void of emotion as it eats the deer's flesh.

The path progresses on the other side of the ranger but there is no room to pass without him seeing you. A large rock half your size blocks the right side of the path and a large overgrowth of thick vines mimics a wall behind it. On the left side of the path is an old, rotted tree that is teetering in the wind. Tall and heavy, it could easily topple with force.
