Chapter 39: Two shameless beings

Two weeks later, Jovanni was standing in front of the door he thought he would never knock again.

After he was discharged, he moved out from his boarding house and rented a room. King, Gio, and Leandro were pleading with him to stay. They were very apologetic, especially King. Jefferson was distressed. He wanted to take care of Jovanni. He even decided to bring Jovanni to his work trip to Manila.

Jefferson, King, Gio, and Leandro did everything just to make Jovanni stay, but he strongly refused. His inferiority complex worsen. His self-esteem sank to the lowest level. Kirt's last words kept repeating in his mind.

'You are just a lowly man. You have nothing to be proud of!'

He's just a lowly man, so he must live a lowly life. He is born unlucky, so he shouldn't associate himself with anyone, lest he will contaminate those people's luck. King, Gio, Leandro, and especially Jefferson are good people, so he must stay away so that these people will live well.

Since that day, Jovanni vowed to live on his own. He should not owe others. He even writes IOU to Jefferson since he is the one who paid his hospital bills. His friends brought him to a private hospital. He was confined for a week and his bills were big, so he promised Jefferson to pay back after saving enough money. This added Jefferson's distress.

His friends were sincere, but Jovanni was traumatized by his family and Kirt. In this world, he is destined to strive on his own, so he must distance himself from other people. This is what Jovanni's mind came up with after suffering a series of heartbreak.

Living on his own. It means he wouldn't rely on and owe anyone. It was the reason why he's standing at the familiar door, because of Kirt's last words.

'You must be grateful that I took you in and served you well for few months. I regretted that I took care of you. A filthy, ungrateful person like you shouldn't deserve an ounce of my care!"

"I am not ungrateful!" Jovanni uttered. He was cared for by Kirt for over four months, so he must pay him back. This might be a remarkably bad decision. If his friends will know, they might drag him away whatever it takes, but this is what Jovanni's stubborn self-decided. He must pay Kirt back!

After few minutes of contemplating, Jovanni faintly knocks on the door.

It was past noon, the time Kirt usually wakes up during weekends. The door was opened not by Kirt, but Earl.

"Jovanni! What are you doing here?!" Earl whispered.

"I'm paying back." Jovanni uttered faintly.

"Paying back?!"

"I was cared for by Kirt for over four months, so I will pay him back. I don't want to owe him."

"Are you crazy? Jovanni, go away immediately!" Earl pushed him, but Jovanni was stubborn.

"Why are you doing this to yourself? Are you a masochist?" Earl was distressed, but Jovanni was rooted.

"Earl, what's wrong?"

Eman and Carlo got up from the couches.

"What are you doing here?! Our Lord didn't want you anymore!" Eman said.

Jovanni didn't reply and just stood stiffly.

"You're face is quite thick huh? Our lord is already disgusted by you, yet you still appear here. Could it be that you can't let go of the lavish life you once enjoyed? Well, I'm telling you, the Lord has abandoned you, so you won't receive those previous privileges again!" Eman yelled.

"Eman, you are talking too much!" Earl was furious.

"Why? Am I wrong? If not for the reason that I said, would he dare show his face again after our lord cut all their ties?"

"He's here to pay back."

"Payback? Hahaha..." Eman laughed.

The chaotic entrance was what Kirt saw as he went out of the bedroom. "What's wrong? Why are you crowding here?"

"Lord, look who's here!" Eman said.

Kirt came closer and saw Jovanni. His face immediately flared up. "What are you doing here?!"

Jovanni was mocked by Eman and then yelled at by Kirt. If his reasoning is still normal, he should run away immediately, but his stubborn self was holding him. For him to start a new life, he must pay Kirt back. Then he will save up enough money to pay the hospital bills he owed from Jefferson.

"What are you doing here!" Kirt yelled again.

"I'm paying back. I will be your servant this summer break." Jovanni replied without looking at Kirt's eyes.

"Get lost!" Kirt ordered, but Jovanni stood still. He was stubbornly standing until Venice went out of the bedroom.

"Babe, what's wrong?" Venice said while clawing at Kirt's arm.

Kirt was silent, but Eman replied. "Ms. Venice, this man wanted to be our lord's servant.

Venice looked at Jovanni's face. A wicked smile appeared on his face. "If he insists, then let him be. Look at how messy this place is, it's good to have a servant. Let him in!"

Jovanni knew that his life wouldn't be easy in this place, but his heart was turned stone-cold after the incident. When he was just laying in the hospital bed, a nurse handed him a phone where four videos were recorded. The first one was Pia being violated and three other intimate videos of Kirt and Venice. He watched all those videos. Jefferson was worried looking at his painful face, but it helps Jovanni a lot. After watching those videos, Jovanni's heart turned cold. His feelings towards Kirt were frozen too, so watching him and Venice sticking together at his face is not painful anymore. All he was thinking was to pay back so that he can move forward.

After he was allowed to get in. Jovanni immediately started cleaning the messy place. Kirt's friends are messy people, the living room was chaotic.

Jovanni was doing his job seriously, not minding the curious gazes following his every move.

"I'm hungry, cook us something to eat!" Venice ordered.

Jovanni heeded without any word. He cooked rice and open the fridge to see what dish he could cook.

An hour later, the table was set. Jovanni is a good cook. Three dishes were served. After setting the table, Jovanni did the laundry.

Being used to hard work, Jovanni was doing all the chores efficiently. It was already three in the afternoon when he finished all the cleaning and laundry. The apartment was spotless, except the bedroom where Jovanni didn't dare enter. There was nothing to do anymore, so Jovanni went out.

"Where are you going?" Kirt asked.

"I'm done. I will come back tomorrow." Jovanni answered.

"Since you wanted to be my servant, then you are going to serve me twenty-four seven. My room is still messy, clean it!" Kirt ordered then tugged Venice inside the bedroom.

Venice was ecstatic, so with Eman and Carl. They knew what was Kirt up to. Jovanni knew it too, he's not completely dumb, but he cares less. However shameless this couple wanted to be, it's none of his business anymore.

"Jovanni..." Earl called as Jovanni walked towards the bedroom.

Jovanni faintly smiled at Earl then followed inside. There, he was welcomed with two entwined bodies on the bed. The same bed where he used to entwine with Kirt.

'Is it painful?' A thought was asking on Jovanni's head.

Jovanni looked at the two busy bodies on the bed.

'No. My heart is numb, I can't feel anything.' Jovanni replied his curious thought, then started cleaning the messy room, disregarding the two shameless people on the bed.
