Tianyun Academy accepts 3 types of disciple. The first type is inner disciple, inner disciple be chosen from the head elders of Tianyun Academy. There are 5 head elders in Tianyun Academy, they are Yang Wushua, a master cultivator level 8 with gold cultivation root, Huang Yeitang, a master cultivator level 7 with fire cultivation root, Mu Yinying, a master cultivator level 6 with thunder cultivation root, Lin Muheng, a master cultivation level 7 with wood and fire double cultivation roots and Mo Baozhu, a honorable cultivator with ice cultivation root. Each of head elders can accept maximum 2 disciples as their inner disciple. Every 10 years, 4 of the head elders always accepted 2 inner disciples. But Mo Baozhu never accepted any disciple for the past hundred years. It makes the amount of inner disciple more less. The second type is outer disciple, outer disciple being taught by inner disciple. So they must respect inner disciple as their teacher, in addition to that, they also have another classes. The amount of outer disciple is exceeded two thousand in the past hundred years, so the resource for outer disciple is much less. The third type is special disciple, they are from royal family background, not just royal family in this Tianyun Continent, but other continents as well. The academy arranged different teachers to teach them. In addition to that, they can come and leave the academy at will, not like inner and outer disciple that can only live in their room in the academy and except they be ordered to go to somewhere by their master, they can only go to their home once in a year.

Tianyun Academy located in the sky and surrounded by formation. Once every 10 years, Tianyun Academy's gate will be opened for 7 days and nights to welcomed the people that passed the selection. The selection being monitored by "the all knowing mirror" that displayed inside the academy. Head elders, teachers and disciples watch it together. People who reach the gate will be accepted as the disciple of Tianyun Academy. And the pople that fail to reach the gate and can only reach the midfle of the ladders, will fall from the sky, many peole died because of this for the past hundred years. The minimum age to participate is 15 years old and the maximum age is 25 years old. The method of selection is same for the past hundred years. First, the participant have to climbing up the ladders to reach the Tianyun Academy that located floating in the sky. After they reached the gate, they can rest inside the academy while waiting for the head elders to choose inner disciples. The rest will become outer disciple, and people with royal family will be admitted as special disciple.
