Chapter 3: Hidden Quest

Who's the one that said this was going to be easy?!

I stood paralyzed from fear as I was now looking into glowing red eyes of three medium sized black rats with one horn sticking from their foreheads.

"They may be level 1 like me, but they are big and I lack anything to fight back with." I found myself in this situation.

"Damn!"

No, wait. I do have one thing to defend with.

I swing my torch about and luckily I learned from the way they stepped back, that fire was an enemy against these monsters.

Well then there's only one thing to do at this point, I'll have to find a way to make the flames stronger!

How though? I have nothing useful to make the flames combust.

I do have a lighter, could that work?

I figured I could only light the torch, but who says it can't be used to cause combustion?

I immediately pulled out the lighter, just like other lighters it had a slider to set to 100% capacity.

Let's turn it up.

I did this and flicked the lighter to the torch, what I didn't expect was the explosion range.

"Woah!" I breathed as I watched in shock as the three rats was suddenly engulfed in flames and turned to dust.

Text Box: Three Dread Rats Defeated!

Entity is not a player and cannot gain experience points or levels.

Entity may also not receive gem rewards or any other like rewards.

Well that sucks.

But at least I now have something to defend myself with. It's too bad about the chance at picking up items though.

I should keep moving forward, I must find this hidden quest!

I wonder what the requirements in getting it though?

I continued walking, defeating level 1 Dread Rats on the way. It wasn't easy and sometimes I get a scratch but I was more determined to unlock the hidden quest.

I came across a two way tunnel path, it was in this way I knew that one of the tunnels will most likely lead me to a trap.

But...

I glanced to the left, that way has this ominous feeling as though I should head in that direction.

Hmmm....what should I do?

I stared at the left tunnel, I don't normally see myself as the type to take risks.

I crossed my arms, but if I stay here any longer those rat bastards may catch up.

Forget it, I'll take my chances, the left tunnel it is!

I instantly made my way though the left tunnel, on my way not a single Dread Rat. Was this perhaps the wrong choice?

I was already halfway through the tunnel, and I'm pretty sure if I go back I will be running into more of those monster rats.

I can't stop here.

I walked until the sound of splashing beneath my feet was heard. Seems I'm heading towards my watery grave.

Looks like listening to my gut feeling might have led me to the tunnel with a trap.

My last step brought me into a room with shallow water.

Slam!

Behind me a stone door closed trapping me in the room.

There was a stone alter ahead. And along the walls the torches that lit the room began to go out like a chain.

The stone alter began to come to life, glowing a bright green.

There was no where for me to go but ahead.

I walked towards the lit alter until I walked up a couple of stone stairs and stood on the stone circle that the alter sat on.

I now faced the alter wondering what I should do now that I stood before it.

Lights up!

green flames appeared around the alter preventing me from stepping out.

Text Box: Hidden Quest Activated!

Trial Box: Complete in order to obtain a rare Class

Unauthorized entity, do you wish to accept the hidden quest?

Accept? or Reject?

The hidden quest seems kind of easy to obtain?

Though, what's this about a trial? I wonder what kind it is?

I pressed accept, I guess Ill find out. Since if I complete it I can get a rare class!

Text Box: Quest Accepted!

Unauthorized Entity has accepted!

The Trial shall begin once the entity touches the stone alter.

The burst of light exploded in my face as I placed my palm against the hard cold stone of the alter.

When the light faded I was now standing before a huge throne with a huge glowing figure sitting on it.

Huh?!

"Welcome, Player! It seems you have found my hidden quest. I shall begin your trial here!" The glowing figure bellows loudly.

The force of it's voice bounced around the room causing air waves to hit me from all sides.

"What's this? You're not a player. What's an NPC doing in my trial?" The glowing figure leans down enough for it's face to be at least three meters from mine.

The figure leans back again, "well whatever. It does not matter, since you are here you shall receive my judgement. If you pass my trial then I shall be sure to reward you nicely. Not only will you become a player but you will unlock a rare player class. Shall we begin?" He asked with a smirk.

This is my chance! My chance to change my whole life!

"Yes!!"
