After they had kindly taken their leave of their patient, Ivy took a deep breath, closed her eyes and felt the tears gently roll down her face again.

The teachers, eager to help their young patient, took it upon themselves to call her parents, and of course, her close friend, the famous Dr. Vintry. Understanding the seriousness of this call, he arrived within the hour. They were all three very nervous without forgetting the ignominious fear which devoured them without respite inside.

When they learned of their daughter's terrible fate, her parents almost fainted. Her mother, Elana Kaltan, wept hotly in the arms of her husband, Brous Kaltan, who had just as much trouble holding back his tears of despair. Ivy looked at them with confusion and despair, and felt more pain for them than she did for herself because of her devastated chest.
