Vance then went to lay down on one of the empty couches with Ava on his stomach. As he did this, he created a pillow for him to use and one for Ava to lay on. Making small adjustments to his position in order to get comfortable, he let out an audible sigh.
Hearing the sigh, Alice looked up from her book, turned her head towards Vance, and asked "What's wrong Vance?".
Without turning his head, Vance looked at Alice.
"It feels weird to have this sort of free time. Like no matter how easy something should be, it'll end up going wrong."
Having been with Vance the second longest, Alice nodded her head.
"That is true. It's never boring around you."
Celine added on to that statement.
"Master radiates an aura that attracts problems."
Vance sighed again.
"At this rate I fully believe that. Something always happens."
Ryoko decided to chirp in at this point.
"Oh yeah, when you came to get my blood, didn't we get attacked soon afterwards?"
Hope turned away from the TV towards Vance and spoke up next.
"When we took the bandit subjugation mission, there were a couple hundred more than expected too right? It really does look like you have a "complication aura."
Vance created another pillow and held it on top of his head, sighed loudly, and then pulled it off again before asking: "Any more stories about complications that came up during things that should have been simple?"
Alice put her book down entirely before turning towards Vance and saying.
"Well, I'm glad this one happened, but when you went to register at the Guild, you ran into me being harassed and saved me."
Vance moved into a semi sitting position, looked at Alice, and nodded his head before opening his mouth to speak.
"I guess it isn't all bad. I wouldn't have met you if that didn't happen."
Jess was the next one to speak.
"Well, we can't say for sure that this is due to Vance's aura, but the kingdom did get invaded shortly after we met you."
This statement left Vance speechless.
Noticing this, Sarah spoke up.
"It seems like wherever Van is, events will start to get harder. It's like the world itself is trying to make him stronger. Or annoy him. Or help him gain companions."
This statement made everyone stop and think.
After a short period of silence, Vance spoke up.
"It doesn't really matter. I'm sure I could adjust reality to stop it, but it's kinda fun. I just have to make sure the people I care about don't get hurt. Other than that, I guess I'll just take it as some type of training."
The girls nodded.
Celine, froze for a moment after that.
Noticing this, Sarah asked.
"Celine? Are you okay?"
Celine nodded. She paused and took a moment, likely to organize her thoughts.
"It's just... it feels like the journey so far has been really smooth."
Alice responded to this.
"Well it's only been a few minutes or so. Even if something goes wrong, won't it be later? I mean the base is pretty well protected."
"Very true." Said Vance. "I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens."
