Leaving the three behind, Vance headed to the first room.
Opening it, he saw a little girl strapped down to a table as a man tried to inject her with a syringe. The syringe held a black and red substance.
The girl was crying in fear and attempting to struggle her way out. Angered by this, the man threatened her with torture she couldn't even imagine.
As this happened, Vance walked behind the man and knocked him out directly.
"Did he hurt you?"
The crying girl, shocked at Vance's appearance, nodded.
Vance stomped on the man's throat.
"Filth."
Looking at the girl he asked. "Are you okay?"
She shook her head.
Vance facepalmed. "Of course you're not. Let me rephrase. Did they hurt you yet?"
The girl shook her head no.
"Can you speak?"
"y-yes."
"Good, how did you end up here?"
"I went outside my house to play and got grabbed by a shadow man."
"Shadow man... do you know where you live?"
The little girl cried a little harder and shook her head.
Freeing her from her restraints, Vance wiped the tear off her face.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure all the kids here get home safely."
"You promise?"
"Of course."
The little girl held up her pinky. Vance locked his with hers.
"I'm gonna put you somewhere safe. It might feel a little weird but it'll be okay."
He said as his shadow extended to the girl.
"I'll send the others there too. So you won't be alone for long."
She slowly sunk into his shadow.
"Be good okay?"
She nodded and disappeared completely.
The moment she fully was absorbed by his shadow, all of the compassion left Vance's face. In its place was an anger so strong that not even gods would be willing to face it.
"You like experimenting on children right? You think your goals are worth more than the lives of innocent people? Then you'll have to deal with the consequences of those actions. When I'm down with these bastards, I won't even let their souls escape."
Casting a spell to freeze time everywhere but the room he was in, Vance began to work on a creation.
"First I need to have control over souls. God of Souls? Godly Soul Source? I can't let these bastards rest in piece. I'd take control over death, but I don't know my body is ready yet."
Vance worked as he mumbled to himself, designing the source of souls.
Gradually, on the creation board, he was done.
"Time to create this bad boy and see how it goes."
He began to create.
In his hands, an ethereal blue sphere gradually took shape. Around it swirled a light mist.
"The fact that I'm willing to go through so much effort just to punish these fools. They should feel honored."
The anger never faded from his mind.
"I know that progress has to be made and people will die for higher goals, but innocent kids? That shit crosses my limits."
With that idea, he put the source to his chest and let it sink in.
Although he couldn't see it, in the darkness of his eyes, an ethereal mist began to flow in.
"What's next... God of Time? God of Life? God of Light? There's gotta be something that lines up with this scenario." Vance wondered as he finished making the God of Souls skill.
After absorbing the skill, Vance could feel a call from the dead scientist in the room, and saw an sort of mist around the body.
"Oh?"
As he looked at it he felt as if he could control it with absolute ease.
"I'll have to figure out how to torture it, or wipe it absolutely clean." He said as he looked away.
"Hmm, I'll do God of Time next. So I can make sure that it's not too late for me to make something else if I need."
Designing the Godly Time Source, Vance mumbled about how he was getting further and further from being a human being.
Soon he was finished designing.
"Creation time."
In his hands, a light green orb with clock hands all over it appeared in his hands. The hands all moved at different paces.
"Maybe my idea of time is cliché, but luckily any gaps in power are blocked by these just being the general concept."
Saying this, Vance merged with this source as well.
In the world in his eyes, a clock gradually formed in the sky.
"God of Time skill next." He said as he designed the skill.
Once he absorbed it, Vance felt as if he was connected to every single thing in the universe, as nothing could escape the flow of time. He then unfroze time with a wave of his hand and walked to the next room.
Just like the last room, a child was strapped to the table. However, the experiment seemed to be different. Red crystals were being melted and flowing to the child from the four corners of the table.
"Interesting experiment, unfortunately." He waved his hand and reversed the flow of the melted crystals. "I don't approve of the test subject."
The scientist looked at Vance in fear as the crystals reverted to the state they had been in when he first received them.
"Who are you?"
"A nightmare to you, and a savior to them." He said as he flicked his finger in the scientist's direction.
"HEUGHHHHH!!!" The scientist cried out in pain.
"Honestly I don't fault you for doing the experiment. In fact I admire your researchers spirit. But to do it on children?" Vance watched as the scientist suffered in pain. "Honestly you were probably forced too. Maybe I'm over reacting. But something about it really annoys me."
Quickly killing the scientist and sending the child to his shadow, Vance went to the next rooms and repeated the process.
"I wonder if these kids would have eventually broke free and killed these people... Who knows, at least I can stop their suffering and get them back home."
After freeing the kids from each room and collecting the souls of each scientist to surround him, Vance came to the room at the end of the hallway.
As the door opened, Vance looked in.
"What the fuck is that?!?!"
