You survey the house. Everything is in good shape so far, with nothing broken and all intact and able to withstand light damage or force.

You collect tools, wood, and nails from the basement and set out to secure the home as fast as possible given the imminent dangers lurking outside.

Your vast crafting knowledge comes in handy in such situations, and your tool chest is invaluable in this case. First, you cover the door with the thickest boards you can find and reinforce them with 2x4s a few feet apart, using bolts and screws with wood glue to adhere the surfaces. You fasten boards over the windows as well, anchoring them to the wall with a masonry bit and wood screws. The creatures appear to have superior strength, or at least are determined enough to fight through a boarded window, so you use duct tape to seal any gaps, which also helps keep out the cold air. Since you've blocked so much visibility to the outside, you cut out small viewing ports in several windows. These provide a line of sight to various points outside.

The whole process takes just half an hour, thanks to your tools and know-how.

You feel somewhat worn from the effort, but at least the house is in better shape than before.
