~~~(POV: Lyatt Scott)~~~
I cast Dark Vines as I clear out the mobs on the way to Xerxol. I'm learning the nuances of Darkness Incarnate more and more. Mainly getting used to the way my mana works. Identifying the patterns in something can really help, and I've fallen into a pattern of using the skills I can until my mana runs out and then retreating. While it is very smart for me to fight like this, my pride as a man makes me want to stay and fight even when I'm out of mana. I have to suppress that pride, which is what I've done. Devin had to go through the same things I'm going through.
I manifest two Black Spears and launch them forward. Killing the two targets. Getting through the high number of mobs this deep into the dungeon is hard for a team, and I'm a single person. Dark Vines and Black Spear have great synergy. While there is no skill or buff that connects them, they work fantastic together. Dark Vines unique ability to lock up multiple targets helps greatly. They work on boss monsters too. They completely stopped Orezal and allowed me to kill him with Dark Burst. I'm going to have to test the limits of Dark Vines after I'm done in here.
My journey through the dungeon is coming to an end. I've gained 35 EXP towards my player level and 25 EXP towards Black Spear and Dark Vines. I'm level 6 now, and my mana and health have gone up. Xerxol is up ahead through the giant ornate doors. I'm so close to getting Grant's ring. I'm probably going to be the first player to clear a dungeon by myself too. An Uncommon grade dungeon at that. The highest grade dungeon I've ever cleared with a team is an Epic grade. That was the worst experience of my life.
The rewards were awesome, though. I don't know if there is a special reward for clearing a dungeon on your own. Nobody ever stepped forward with any information regarding that. The World Lore tab didn't speak of anything regarding that either, but out of billions of players. It'd be hard to find their information. "Closer..." A feminine voice rings throughout the stone hallway that I'm walking. The dungeon no longer looks like a cave but has changed into a stone brick environment. I know the lore of this place, and that's Xerxol.
[Xerxol has tried to look into your mind!]
[All that meets her is the endless Darkness!]
[She is fighting with all her will to keep her mind intact!]
Mulitple system notifications shoot up in front of me, and my Mental Immunity Passive buff has activated. "RRRAAAAAA!!!" Her screams echo through the hall. I didn't know that Xerxol read the minds of dungeon divers. The entire area shakes along with her screams. I fall on my ass as everything shakes. She must be going through some serious shit. She must have a powerful mind-reading skill if no one knew. Most give a warning if someone is reading your mind. I see the door up ahead, and I struggle to keep my balance as everything shakes.
To be honest, I was hoping actually to get to fight her. It's anti-climatic that she could end up losing her mind. "I'm rooting that you make it... I want to fight you..." My ego doesn't want to admit this is extremely overpowered, but it's a very specific situation. Only powerful Bosses and NPC's can read your mind, and they don't always do that. All of a sudden, the shaking stops, and I gain 110 EXP towards my player level. Damn it. She died from the attack on her mind. I don't get any exp for anything else cause I didn't use any skills. I'm level 7 now, which is good.
I make it to the door, and I push it open. As I look towards the center of the room, I see that Xerxol is on the ground, dead. It looks like she bashed her own head against the concrete until she died. She inflicted the damage on herself, so it'd kill her fast. Despite being a mage-type, demons have incredible physical strength. I can see some glowing items next to her, and those are the drops. There is blue blow around some green ones. Common items glow white, Uncommon glows Green, and Rare glows Blue. Epic is Purple, Exotic is Red. Legendary item drops glow Yellow. Grant's ring is over there.
